Re: Tongue weight?

hey to each his own i like my truck so i let the trailer carry the load. My Sea Ray has around 200 to 250 lbs tongue. but the trailer is made to carry 7500 lbs. I like over kill trailers. That way i can use the trailer to haul in other projects.

Re: Tongue weight?

yeah RAP i have a 7500 LB carrying weight trailer for a 29 ft boat with 2 5/16 ball under my 25 ft Sea Ray Over kill yes but worries none.

Then the V20 has an Aluminum FloatOn 25 ft trailer made to carry 5500 lbs with the little V20 on it lol

Then i have the 21ft Contintental on a 25 ft steel trailer made to carry 7500 lbs had 2 5/16 but welded on a 2" ball receiver.

Then the 19 ft Sea Ox has my only single axle trailer with a 4500 lbs 21 ft boat trailer

So Yes I like Over Kill.

Thanks guys for your replies. The ramp I use is 3 miles away . I'll be going with the over kill. RAP you trailered 11 hours how'd it go. Virginia Beach is a 12 hour trip from my house. I would be going though the mountains. I'm just thinking. Thanks again! Bill Mc ;D

Go fer it , Skools...

Mac, fortunately, the Fla. trip was flawless, but I put new bearings every year, shot 'o grease every trip and run Goodyear Marathon Radials w/max air checked often...even LED lights on trailer...

There have been some good tips on trailering here lately...follow those and make that trip...what ya towin' with?...12 hours will be WORTH all the FUN...hell...a few days w/these guys, you may never go back!! :o...

Re: Tongue weight?

I have a tandam and I canot even come close to picking up my trailer! I would say it has to be near 400 #.
I have my truck up to 80 mph and not a sway or anything out of it!!
The more weight the better the handling!!

It ias up to you what you want and what you tow with. When I use to have a full size van I had the tounge so light I could lift it with one finger!!
Never had a problem towing cause the van blocked all the wind from getting under the boat.

When I switched to my blazer the ting would want to take flight at 30 mph!! I had to add weight (move boat forward) just to keep it on the road.

It use to be that for every tow truck I had to adjust the weight for that vechile.

Now I just buy full size trucks, beef up the springs and full steam ahead!!

When I had my full size Blazer w/350 4 barr. I was going down the high way lost a tire and never new it till the tire passed me and i looked in the mirror to see sparks flying all ober the place!! I cut right thur the u bolts and all!

Now you no why I have a brand new trailer!! I am hard on them!
