Re: question on Painting topside on v20.
If I were a betting man I'd say the hull is an 87', possibly 86' but definately one of the two.
As for sectioning off, I'd probably tape off and mask the deck (floor and bow) and any other areas to be nonskidded like the gunnels. Shoot the hull insides and the rest in one shot if possible. Airslot |

Re: question on Painting topside on v20.
first off that looks great
my question is why can't you spray it all at once? I sprayed my 21 inside at once mask off the bottom then with slow drying thinner spray the rubrail area from outside all the way around then climb in and start on the front and paint from the outside in till you are done. if you plan on non-skid on the floor and front area then go back after that dry's and roll on the paint with non skid added later. that's how i did my 21 project found in the off topic area. |
Re: question on Painting topside on v20.
I live in Wilmington,NC. The boat is a 1987 model so Airslot wins the bet. I have a 225hp Evinrude Ficht with 521 hours that will be used for the power. My first career was in management and then as a proprietor of a restaurant (Stressful) The name of my boat back then was Stress Management My career now allows me to be off Monday through Thursday. Four days off to choose which day to go fishing. (very stressful) ;D

Re: question on Painting topside on v20.
Skools Out. I was concerned with overspray from not maintaining a wet edge. Is there anything I can do If I proceed with your method and have a problem with the paint flowing into the paint sprayed on the outside? The paint I will use is Interlux Perfection with 2316N spraying reducer. Would it be possible to have a second gun loaded with just reducer to help flash in the paint if the edge gets to dry? I know this method works with the old style enamels and lacquers.
Thank you. Stress |
Re: question on Painting topside on v20.
when i sprayed mine i just used both spray thinner and brush thinner so it wouldn't dry as fast that way it had time to flow out smooth. it was a 74* weekend when i did mine and the paint took little longer to set up due to mixed both thinners then added to the paint for timing.

Re: question on Painting topside on v20.
I will pick up some brushing thinner and give it a try when i paint the hatches and console. If all goes well , I will paint the inside in one shot. Thank you for the information.
