If its to good to be true than it probably is. I would shy away from anything that you cannot check out for yourself or is coming from any area where we have had huricanes. These thing are sold by the Insurance Co. for the best bid or to who ever will take the boat. I'm not sure if they stamp the titles as totaled on boat as they do cars but it seems people find a way to get claen titles. Some engines can sink and run fine but there are other that will always be trouble.

I know that wellcraft sold v20 with as little as 115hp two strokes when new.

I think the 130 will work but I am not into speed I just wonder if the engine is damaged some how.

Even at $2800 he has to be making a profit. Who would sell a good working honda 4 stroke for under $2500. I believe that this motor was stripped off of a hurricane boat.

In Hampton Roads most of these shops want more that $2500 for 10+ year old 2 strokes.

If anyone knows of some good cheap 4 stroke power let me know.

thanks

I think a 130 will work with the right prop. Won't be a speed demon but will be economical. Heck, there is someone on this site running a 90 merc on a V-20. As for this particular one, follow the advise of these guys, only buy if you can thouroghly check it out yourself or independant mechanic.

got to look at that 2 ways smaller HP will cost you more fuel once you go to small. the to large will too. the tooo small of HP will work harder all the time to keep the boat on plane and will burn up the motor faster from full time over worked.

Nephew traded in a 99 Honda 130 with 2700 hrs on it and the dealer gave him $4700 for it. He put on a 150 hp Honda.

I agree Lord Skool's. *I have never run a Honda 130, I am basing my opinion on my Johnzuki 140. *I figure it would be enough. *

I remember when those 130's first came out I saw a test in "Boating" magazine.....I think it was on a Boston Whaler 19 ft, it went close to 40mph and was getting close to 7 mpg @ around 25 mph.

Did honda fix this problem after a certain period of time or does it still effect current year models?

thanks
