Re: rub rail rope
LOL, Love the pic. REEl. After last night, still not sure if I can hold any donuts down.......but I'll give it a try. ;D
So I guess the rub rail rope just locks itself in. No glue ?? |

Rub Rails are different...some have SS inserts, some vinyl, some rope...see what yours is like... post up a pic (now THERE'S a novel idea :D)...see if it's and insert style or not??...and go from there... ;D ... |
Re: rub rail rope
hey guys,
before you go buying rub rail at the boat stores, go to Lowes or Home Depot, it is much cheaper. Thats what I did. ;D |
Re: rub rail rope
Hammer, best I can figure, the rope is held in at the two ends.

Re: rub rail rope
Hammer,
replace mine last summer, just pull the old out and put in the new. But putting in the new is not fun. Lots of sweat and tears. If yours is like mine trying to get the new rope in the old rail is tighter that a virgin on prom night :D ;) |
Re: rub rail rope
Hammer...here's mine w/rope insert
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/IMGP0247.jpg Starboard, canvas, etc are gray on my boat, so found gray rope to use for insert...Cy's right...it's a BEAR installin' it, but you've fought ''bears'' B4 ;) ... the rubber "captures" the insert and holds it in place, along w/a SS screw at each end of the insert on the transom... :D ... |
Re: rub rail rope
I've never done it, but I have it in my mind that one person guiding the rope while the second person uses a rubber mallet to seat the rope and it would go pretty easy?
