Try this...last year Jet-Ski conked about 300 yds from ramp and I'm the only MoFo on the lake :P ... no paddle ... took the big, fat, heavy SEAT off and paddled back to shore, sweatin', cussin', fightin' the breeze ... just as I got there, a guy pulls up, jumps outta his truck and shouts, "Need a paddle?"... :o ...

LOL, when I broke down last year and I was paddling the V, these yahoo's zoomed by me about a dozen times tubing. They finally pull up and say "Are ya broke down?" I was like no chit, I'm paddling my 20' boat for my health, so I said "yeah!" ;) They towed me in.

AL requires it too. I have one, trimmed down to fit in my bow storage. I figured it doesnt matter if its pratical to use or not, you can paddle my boat either. ::)

I got Seatow...Im throwin anchor and pickin up the radio, not a paddle. ;)

There is a guy I met that has a toy one about foot long, says I have a 22 footer a paddle is useless and the law says to have one, not what size!

Not required to have one in De. Been lucky so far and never had to swim to shore. ;D

When I started my boating life when I was 11 or 12, we never left the dock without a paddle and some old tennis shoes. The 1969 14' Westwind w/ 55 Johnson would puke out regularly. More than once I paddled to the bank and pull it back to the ramp by hand, walking through the oyster shells (thats where the old shoes came in).

In fact, if the gas was low, we would still go skiing but stay within site of the ramp for when it ran out it wouldn't be so far to drag the boat.

Man, that was crazy, me and my buddy, 12 years old, out in the ICW waterskiing. My brother was 9, he would go along as the "safety observer".


My uncle had a 72 Chebby station wagon that I used to put the boat in and out.

I don't carry one - you sure you gotta have it in NC? The US coast guard didn't say anything about it when they boarded me over the weekend. They checked everything else though, HMS permit, fire ext., life jackets, whistle, flares, etc. Tried their damdest to find something - NADA! I'm glad they didn't think about the oars :-/

My 9.9 might get me back depending on sea conditions....but I KNOW Seatow will get me back....I'm with Stink on that one.

I had never heard of the paddle requirement here in NC. *I can't find that requirement on the NCWRC website.
