Our boating season is pretty much year round down here, but what alot of people don't think about is things rot from sitting not working. There are alot of engines down here that get used day in and day out still in good shape because they get used. Another thing to consider is where that engine is isn't far from LAKE OKECHOBEE. There are still quite a few people that have good sized boats on the big pond. I got my MERCURY from down there, it there isn't the first sign of it haveing ever been in saltwater before I got it.

The engine in the auction has seen salt, no doubt. But look at the pic of the steering arm, it appears to have little to no pitting on it. And the clamp bracket only shows some minor corrosion around the tilt tube. I would like to see some better pictures of the whole engine myself, but of what's visible shows good.

It does look good, but like HAMMER said Shipping cost,

I'll bet we could arrange a train to meet each other
and transfer the motor up to MJ.
I have easy access to the I-95 and I-81 corridors.

$500 to get shipped, I have checkesd all ready, got one bid for $450

I agree Therm, motors are ment to run and alot of stuff up this way goes bad cause they sit 8 months of the year!!

The train to MJ sounds great!!

But lets see if i get it?? I am calling in some markers right now :-/

Dear universalmaco0,

I've owned it for the last 10 years. I am the second owner. It's never overheated as long as I've owned it. When I bought it, it had 160 hours on the clock. As far as present hours, I don't think I put 25 hours a year on it since I got it. I would estimate around 400 hours.

You sure you want to roll the dice on shipping? I hate to dig up old bones but I can't help but remember that last shipping debacle that you and I went through! Lost, then found, then lost, then found, then lost, then found, then lost, then still lost, then still lost, then found...then damaged....missing parts etc. etc. etc.

I guess just make sure they crate it up better than I did and try to get some good shipping insurance. I wouldn't do it without those 2 things.

Good luck!

Yep all that and it didn't work :(
Hmm................Maybe it will work this time??
