When I say you don't own it I mean you don't don't own the right to do whatever you want to it. Its not YOURS free and clear forever. The state holds conditions on it. It has to be that way because you are going to die and because you have "neighbors". In this democracy of ours, the State is the people of the state now and in the future.

Totally agree. In fact, that's exactly what I said in my previous post. As for the taxes thing, I did put a LOL in there. It was meant as a joke.

Last I checked we don't live in a democracy, if that was the case it would be mob rule, whoever agrees with the masses gets there way. We live in a republic with democratically elected representatives. It's a HUGE difference.

I for one am getting tired of this "lockdown". It hasn't changed my life much because I live in self quarantine on a daily basis because of my health, but last I checked we had certain unalienable to rights, and I'm sure feeling like my right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are being thrown out the window. If I choose to go fishing right now to feed my family, I could be fined and put in jail for 90 days. If I choose to go on a drive just to go, too friggen bad.

If people want to leave there northern home and come stay in there Florida home right now to get away from this virus, they cannot do it because our governor has put check points on the border to stop anybody from out of state. The masses may agree with this as being for the "greater good", but doesn't this trample all over somebody's right to life and pursuit of happiness?

I realize people want to be safe and contain this, but how does your rights trump my rights? We used to stand up for everybody's rights in this country, but since 9/11, people have allowed fear to rule there lives. I'm not saying somebody should be able to go out and purposefully harm others, but if somebody decides that they want to LIVE there life, they should be allowed to. I'm not going to list all the statistics I've found on this "pandemic", but your odds of dieing in a car crash are FAR higher than that of covid-19 from my research, but I have yet to see anybody willing to give up there cars.

I guess I look at things differently since my bad car accident and had the ER doctors tell me my family is here, and I should tell them goodbye because it will probably be my last chance too. But there comes a point where you have to stop living in fear, and live your life. I'm just tired of seeing people WILLINGLY give up there rights, DEMAND others cave to there will's, and do the same or else, all under the guise of safety.

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Ferm, thank you for your post. In other words, that is exactly what I was trying to say and convey with my original post. You just said it a lot better than I did.

Our rights are fragile things, and little by little they have been and are being taken away from us. They have been removed, as I've said before, under the guise of "protecting" us Big Brother is protecting us from harm and in the process he's taking away tiny pieces of our liberty. Just a little bit each time. Salt water fishing licenses? ridiculous. Being put in jail for a mandatory 5 years in prison because a little metal box you owned was capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition?.. unthinkable. A farmer can't use his land because there is a pond on it so it's considered wetlands?... inconceivable. Can't smoke in stores and public places?... preposterous. These are just a few of the liberties that we have lost, all in the guise of "protecting" us. Our history is littered with hundreds more, most of them happening in the last 75 years. As long as we are willing to give up ANY of our freedoms just to be safer eventually we will be neither free or safe. And the enemy will be the very government that took our liberties away from us in the first place.
