Re: Pots are in the water

Where would you put them MJ? I have mine off the Elizabeth Islands in Lackey's Bay. It is only about 8 miles from Falmouth Harbor.

Re: Pots are in the water

I live in Yarmouth, and there lays the problem!! There is no fish in the midcape!!

So you always have to go some were else, I use to fish Chatam all the time and thats why they were there.

Then I started going to Vinyard sound, and back and fourth, so it got to be a real pain, so I just stoped!

Now I fish Vinyard 80% and Chatam 20% and I have no idea were would be good in the sound? There isn't a lot of pots there.

I use Green Pond most of the time, But i hear the new Falmouth ramp is great?? I have not seen it yet. We will have to hook up this year some time!!

Are you in Falmouth? I lived on Marivista Ave. for most of my life, ran a 17ft Whaler out of Great Bay.

MJ - I have not used the ramp in Falmouth Harbor but it looks nice. I have walked around it and go by it all the time. It does not get very much traffic during the week. I take care of a property diagonally across from the ramp and there is room for me to keep my boat for the season. It is a very sweet deal. Hope to see you this year.

Sean - I have lived in Falmouth since '99. My wife used to summer in Woods Hole and I in Eastham. Got tired of the rat race outside NYC in NJ and made the move.

Went out yesterday to check the pots. Only one bug, but he was about a pound and a half. The old timers always say the first week is a bust due to the bubbles the traps give off. Steamed him last night and we will have lobster salad on crackers for an appetiser tonight.

Water cold might be a tad early? How do you do most of the year?

Can you post pics of your lobster pots and what is a good bait to use?

Re: Pots are in the water

MJ - I only put my pots out May,June, July. Before that the boat is on the blocks and once August rolls around the water is so warm I don't catch anything.

In Mass you are allowed 10 pots in RI it is only 5.

Par - I swear by Bluefish. Nice and oily. Brings them in better than anything else since there is a moritorium on herring. I have used skates before and racks from stripers with OK success. I have also tried racks from fluke which was a waste of time.
