[QUOTE=THEFERMANATOR;219150]Wondering why it had a starter put in it. You don't often hear of them burning out in these trucks. The normal problems with the starters is people break them taking the wires off the solenoid

Thanks TF i will have to inquir about that.

I did get the 2006 model with the LBZ 6.6 engine from what I can find there's little diff range between it and the LLY 6.6. The LBZ is just tuned better and has 360hp/655tqr vs 320hp/560tqr. Going to be a learning curve for this first time desiel owner. I'm impressed how quiet it is compared to my dads stock Ford my brothers dodge has the bully dog package and sounds like a frightliner .

Shame you aren't closer to Ferman in Zepherhills, FL. He is a savant with respect to the Duramax/Allison. EFI-Live programming is the best IMO. That is what I have now thanks to - THEFERMANATOR. Different settings for economy and towing that are available on the fly. I have a Tripple Dog from Bully Dog that will add some soot to the LBZ. It was installed on my 2006 prior to the EFI-Live. I will let it go for cheap if interested. It did increase power, just not to the extent the EFI Live programming does. The Bully Dog plugs into the OBDII port under the dash and has a small screen from which you can retrieve diagnostic codes and set up various programming functions. EFI-Live uses a laptop and has hundreds of parameters to change and play with. Either way, you got in cheap. Hope it is a runner for years to come. We like ours a lot.. 3 in total.

2006 could be either a LBZ or LLY. the EARLY 06 LLY is actually an LBZ but with different tuning. If it's an 06 truck, look at the VIN number, if the 8th digit is a 2, it is the LLY, if it is a D it is an LBZ. The ONLY difference between the 2 is the tuning in the ECM. LLY is 310HP, 605 TQ, and LBZ is 360HP and 650 TQ. An 06 LLY can be made into an LBZ with a reflash VIA EFILIVE. Most aftermarket tuners don't change it to an LBZ, so if it adds 50HP, it is simply bringing you up to a stock LBZ powerwise. Theres lots of good tuners out there that do EFILIVE tuning, so if the bug hits you got options(I can just gurantee you that it will be HARD to find somebody else as cheap as I am, I do it as a hobby, not a business).

If it wasn't such a long way for me I'd be on my way. There's a few of you I'd like to spend a few days with and try to absorbe some of your knowledge.
