Thanks for compliments. As almost always, the boat looks better in the pictures as it currently stands.
About the trailer: I rented that trailer just to transport the boat. I'm not sure yet if I'm gonna buy one, because those are pretty expensive. I need to say, that all equipment are more expensive here than in states. We had some bad luck with that trailer. After we had the boat on the trailer and we were on a half way to harbour in Stockholm I noticed some strange noise. It was the wheel bearing. After that we drove 10-20 mph and luckily got to the ferry and back to Helsinki alive. Anyway, I'm not sure if I like those rollers, but they are useful to fit all kind of boats and hull shapes on the trailer. Power plant: It's an outboard model, but there's no engine at the moment. My plan is to repower with a decent ~150 hp engine and I have been looking for a used one, but there haven't been many decent ones available on 130-200 hp range. So now I'm negotiating a deal about a new 150 hp Optimax XS (trading in my old boat)! :) |
Excellent timing. Welcome to the site..
We got Wellcraft's galore here in the states. You have the 24' Twister and the Argo Cat 22' on your side of the pond. A shame we couldn't get a little freight moving through Helsinki. I really want one but only know of one guy bringing them in and they are real high. I can't afford it either.. Keep up the good work. They are real good and versatile boats. |
The way the steps are on the V a 125 horse will get it up on a plane loaded and do less than 30mph but a 150 horse will get it over 40mph.
The general consistence is a 150 horse is about perfect for this hull. |
Capt Pete just put a 150 Opti on his dad's V20...they recently wet tested it and are very happy w/the performance...You'll also be happy w/the fuel economy as the Optimax motors are widely known for their fuel sipping characteristics...
Somebody did a nice job redoing your dash board...looks GREAT! Do you know the condition of the inside of the fuel tank?...hope she's clean and ready for new fuel and take a close look at the vent and filler hoses to the tank...back in 1984 those were not compatible w/alcohol found in most fuels today in the states...are your fuels over there part alcohol?...even if not, make sure all the hoses are in good enough shape to provide your new motor w/top performance. Thanks for the pics and keep 'em coming as your V20 comes together for you... |
