Guy brags its a 21' wellcraft NOT a V20 in his ad. Like the V20 lineage is a bad thing or something.

For this douchebag stance that he has taken I will say that his rig is PRICEY and I think V21 windsheilds look gay. :nut:

Except for Bluerunner's.

What's a V 20 ?

Destroyer 06-04-2012 09:23 AM

I've got one of each. I'll eventually just have the V21, simply for the extra space in the yard. I love both of them, but truthfully I like the V21 better. Not because it's the newer one, but simply because I like the looks and functionality of the 21 over the 20. (Higher transom, built in livewell, washdown pump, etc. etc.)

(Who is Bluerunner??? :head::you:)

Destroyer - seems that you get my jokes, and sense of humor.
I say ................. any boat that gets you " there and back" without trouble is likely a good boat. I ran a 16' aluminum skiff with 40hp Mariner outboard for EIGHT years ! That boat even pounded on the trailer ! I used to curse that boat every time out. Not nearly enough boat for me, no space, tripping over those bench crossbeam " seats", it leaked and turned into a big frying pan in the sun ! Still............ it was better than no boat.

Yesterday, Sunday was a great day to run the V on the ocean.......and I did, for at least 40 miles round trip. V 21 that is............

Oh shat that is funny. I only read down to the, "besides I think V21 windshields are gay." I was about to quote bradford and fire off a light-hearted, nasty response, then I see Destroyer's remark....looked back up and saw the , "...except for Blue Runner's" LOL!! Good one bro!

My take on it is this - I think this guy knows there is no way he can get 10k which is why he put obo. By putting obo he is letting the prospective buyers know he won't take $6500 (yet). My guess he isn't in a huge hurry to sell and realizes if someone does show interest, they are likely willing to pay a pretty good price considering his starting price tag. When he does not get a single call he will drop down to 9k obo then do it all over again. His probably just doesn't want to sell himself short just in case there is someone who will fork over 10k. In a word - he's just feeling out the market IMO. Not a bad thing to do if in no hurry.

What do ya'll think it is worth (given the 4 pics and limited info)?

I replied to the wrong comment - meant to answer your question here Ok then:

Before I found my V21, I looked at a few that were in lousy condition - price range mostly $ 5,000 area.

I paid $ 8,500 for my 96' V21 with 96' 150 Evinrude
Boat - excellent to exceptional condition, no soft spots.
Motor - very low hours, perfect compression
Trailer - dual axle, in fair to poor condition

Guy with nearly truly MINT 96' V21 trailer etc recently sold for.......I believe $ 12,000

So, in my opinion, his asking price may be a bit on the high side.

If the guy paid $ 12,000 for a truly MINT 96' V21, motor same, trailer same and really likes this type boat, that's still a very nice rig compared to new, but discounted for wood in the construction etc.

If you guys recall my comment that everyone keeps mentioning, there was a guy that wanted $9600 for his 95 V21 and I said I thought it was pricey.. (which is where the joke comes from).. but he eventually dropped his price to $6500 and sold the boat. I had gone to look at it and truthfully it was one of the finest V21's i ever saw.. I even tried to buy it but someone else plunked down a deposit on it a few hours before me. <sigh> My point is that like everything else in life, the value is whatever someone is willing to pay. I paid $1600 for my 96' V21 with a nice tandem Load-rite trailer and no engine, but don't forget that I had to remove the floor, replace all the plywood on the bottom, fibreglass encapsulate it and refoam the hull. It's still a work in progress. The engine is just about ready to marry to the hull. Ran the controls last weekend. I think $6500 - $8500 is about right for a V21 without a soft floor. :head:

Well mine's back up for sale and available today only for $ 100,000.
And I'll throw in 2 life jackets to get ya started.

Blue_Runner 06-05-2012 08:14 AM

Yeah I agree. A nice trailer is a major plus for someone who trailers. Then there is electronics, guages, enclosure, wash down, etc. which all help push up the price.

I paid $6,300 w/ brand new trailer, new awlgrip on exterior, new rub rail, new kicker bracket and 9.9 evinrude kicker, all round and square hatches replaced, new yamaha guages, new yamaha controls, brand new oil injection tank, new stainless prop, new swim platform, new optima battery, and new raw water wash down.

Already had electronics and full enclosure from my previous V20. Then I put a brand new motor on it and hydraulic steering a couple years later. Also new captains chairs.

If you add everything up I have over $15k in it.

If I ever sell it it might be considered "pricey" by some (LOL) but I would never expect to see anything remotely close to $15k, that is if I ever sell it.
