Sounds like I may be in for a surprise using the tabs on the V21.
On my previous boat full down tabs didn't cause any problems, other than not being fast for higher speed cruising - normal operations. We'll see. Regarding B I - lots of boaters us it, just have to be more careful with tide / wave action. I'd offer up Shark River Inlet as perhaps the safest on the Jersey coast. Real short, deep, straight and easy. |
Bgreene I don't think they are saying regular size tabs are a problem on 20' boat. It's a concern using the 16" long tabs i was going to use on such a small boat that may be a liability. Most standard trim tabs are 12" wide x 9" long.

I'd say that the larger size tabs would almost have to cause more reaction than that of smaller ones.kind of like the reasoning for larger ailerons on a stunt aircraft.
