Jabsco In-Line 3/4" Non-return Valve For Bilge Pump

THANKS Smoke...! never found that looking for scuppers. I guess its all in what you call it. Do you use these? I don't imagine you can pass fish guts and scales throught them, so I'll need some kind of screened deck fitting. I still have not found a decent replacement for the original deck drains in my '84 V20. None are as flush to the deck, they have a 1/8" lip and water sits there.

Thanks for the info. What type of drainsdo you think work best on the v20 1) inline vs the scupper type 2) if scupper type, which style (ping pong ball v. flap) 3) can you use both of these values at the same time. (an inline between hull and floor and a scupper on the outside of hull)?

Like mentioned above...I'm concerned about the scupper or the ping pong being used on the SIDE of the hull will be a problem as the scupper goes thru the water sideways at 30+ mph...and the PP ball housing will surely get knocked off sooner or later..they are fine on the rear of the boat, but problematic on side...that's why I'm suggesting an internal inline check valve...no reason why to ones linked shouldn't do the job...

I'm gonna use external flaps in the splashwell....

I was thinking about cutting a taper to countersink my drains in the wells but I got the idea recently to just sand and fill the well with epoxy flush with the drain.... I prolly won't do that either but ya never know... I could....lol

I do think I'll step up to bigger drains... maybe 1 1/4"

Those flaps will work great in the splashwell...that's 1 1/2" hose shown above...good luck w/yours and pics when ya can...sounds pretty spiffy...

I didn't realize any of the V-20's drained out the side... I thought it was either splashwell for outboards (like mine is) or transom for I/O's. WHOOPS my bad... guess it makes sense tho... the decks in my monte carlo drains out the side but they are WAY above the water level so no worries bout water on em

I'd say maybe the flaps could still be used on the side turned about 45 deg to the rear but I can also see where the spray hitting them at speed might do strange things and definitely no ping pong balls outside there.... I think I've seen thru hulls with the ping pong balls built inside them but the in-lines might just be the simplest plan for exiting the sides.

I don't know which years they did, but somewhere along the line, they ran the floor drains right into the bilge and relied on the bilge pump from there...I think it was after that they went to shootin' 'em outta the side...

I tried these and they just did not work very well, they kept water out, but drained really slowly, now I just put plugs in the drains when we are stopped in the ocean and pull them when water gets on the floor so they drain.

Hey REEL, does your set up work better with the floor drain in the back wall instead of the floor?

Zarkohl 11-22-2011 12:29 PM

My 1983 has them on the sides.
