I know what you are talking about now, the two holes in the bottom of the bell housing on the motor, they don't bolt to anything, they are there for assembly on the line and crating. You're not the first to question them

thats correct they don't use those bolt holes located at the bottom of your bell housing in your application.merc uses only the two located about the center of the bell housing.

Truth is, you lucked into one of the best boats ever built in it's class and size. The fact that it also looks awesome is just gravy.
