All those number seem low, my '78 V20 cuddy with a '87 150 Suzuki will run
44 mph and cruises at 28 mph at 3500rpm.. Does that sound right?

If those are your numbers they're great...you must be propped high...I've had two different 150s (1 2 stroke and 1 4 stroke) and I haven't seen 44 or 28 mph @ 3500...

On plane at 15-16mph
WOT w/ 2 people 28.7
WOT w/ 3 people 28.0

Theres a chance you might recognize this boat from CL

I certainly believe those numbers, right in line with the 28 mph from my old V-20 with an 85 Johnson. The Yamaha 3 cylinder is probably a bit lighter too.

Wish someone with a connection to Mercury could get their hands on the old "Boathouse Bulletins" from Lake X where they tested boat & motor combinations. The 1983 Mercury info for the Wellcraft V20 said 46 mph with their 150 V6 and a 19P prop, 20 gallons fuel, no gear and 2 persons onboard. I tried a 19P prop and went to 17P because real world is 72 gallons of fuel, ice chests and tackle. Mine did about 42 mph real world with a good load and 150 hp.

That's good speed - I'm getting just about 40.0 mph with 150 Johnson and 1/2 tank - 30 gallons on my V21. That was on the ocean, not flat so might get a bit more. With 150hp generally 38-42 mph seems the WOT speed.

With my V21, flat calm on the bay and very little tide movement I get about 37mph at WOT with the 150 Honda on the back. Cruise is around 26ish at 3700 according to GPS.

My 1992 200 Merc gets mine with curtains, 1 person, half tank (30G.) on a clam day, 2 way average via Garmin at 42 WOT and trimmed.

I have a Johnson 150 ocean runner with a 17p prop with 5 people & gear and flat lake I top out right around 40 - 42 mph. Not sure what it would be just 2 people and light gear.
