Fastest I've seen was almost 53 on GPS, I turn around 5700-5800. That was me alone, no gear and no bottom paint. Now, me and another person or 2 and a cooler I see 48 WOT still turning 5700-5800, bottom painted....I have no top though. Im trying to get more bow out of the water. I think my motor is to high as I start to cavitate to early as I trim up..

What prop are you using?
And how do you tell about cavitation?
What is it called when you trim up and you can here the prop start to slip and your revs go higher?

You are exactly right on cavitation

Im turning a 14 1/4 X 19 SS

What a great looking boat. It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

I call it tilting the motor up TOO DAMN HIGH.!!...LOL!!...

There is a fine line between where it BITES and where it slips...but you gotta make it slip to find that sweet spot where you'll get your optimum speed w/least amount of foot in the water...
