I was about to comment on this one. The overall fuel burn for the 4-stroke is much better. Ssired fish, congratulations on the new power. TSU, that is lazy on the RPM, the 17 may help your mileage. Both sound great to me. If I were to cruise around the best I see is 2.5MPG. Most of the time the 250 2-stroke averages ABOUT 2MPG all around. Less is possible. The price to pay for cheap HP.

5100 is a tad low, but not bad for a 60 degree EAGLE looper. They don't like to turn more than 5500-5600 as they are built pretty heavy inside for commercial type useage. 4 strokes do best at lower RPM's, at WOT a 4 stroke isn't that much better on fuel burn than a 2 stroke, maybe 10% better. At idle though they can be up to 400% better.

Yeah RR I get about 2.5 with my 150 2 stroke.

My mech. wanted me to even try a 15x19 but that particular 150hp states it needs to ride at 5800-6000 WOT which is what I ended up with. I was back and forth and got about 10 people(companies) to prop it out and 14.25 x 17 came up from four of em. I love the looks of the top end capabilities with this combo(boat/eng/prop) but I MOSTLY fish offshore and SELDOM get to ride WOT. This configuration will best suit what I believe my needs are which are an efficient, above-average cruise speed while maximizing range.

Oh, did I mention I had an authentic seatrail?????? NE 15-20kts. 1.5ft in the river!!!!! I got gas to burn, what can I say?????

ALMOST FINISHED(yeah, yeah, I know, its never finished)!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO GET THEM PICS UP!!!!!!!!

Your numbers are VERY CLOSE to mine when I originally put the 150 Honda on back in '04...topped out at 42 @ 6000 and cruised at 29 @ 4000...that w/a 15 1/4" x 17 Power Tec

Reel - I'm considering a new Honda 150 on a '74 cuddy. What kind of fuel economy do you get out of your 150?

Thanks.
