The ESPN article was extreme right wing, and the above article is the polar opposite. The o is not directly out to ban fishing, but DC has been working it's way towards it for many years now. Do some research on the islands in the stream project in the GULF OF MEXICO(hint: it's not about the song, nor any islands), or the recent proposals in MONTANA's streams. There are several organizations out thre that have been lobbying for years to get things in a position where just a few pen strokes from who ever is sitting in the White House can overturn our rights to fish.

RW a lot of what that gent said I agree with. Here is the other side of what he is not explaining, the task force is making recommendations to put off all fishing in large blocks of our coastal and inland bodies. Some of this has already happened under some of these same groups even under dipsh!t Bush.
Ask anyone here from the west coast and they will tell you. All over Florida it is happening and there are proposals being put forward in many other areas of our country.

Now here is what is really the problem. And this article does not mention it. Obamination has already repeatedly said to these organizations that we cannot depend on the legislative process and that he will take action with Executive Order. He will direct the criminally massive federal government to conduct what he decrees to be right by DECREE.
I am not ruled by anyone, I have no King. I will die before I have a KIng. Our nation was founded on a Constitution, with strict limitations on what the Federal Government can do and with the progressives in both parties over the past 50 or so years they have become the ruling class.
This has to be stopped.
These Decrees, Rules, Regulations, Taxes, nanny state population control things are leaving a very bad taste in the mouth of every true American.
That is what has many fisherman, hunters, and others of more traditional values pissed off. Me too

Agree with you guys 100%...I think this has been a good thread so far about the problems that sportsman face in the near and distant future...please understand too that I am constantly forming and modifying my own personal opinion as I read more from the many sources out there including you guys that have been into this alot longer than I have.

To be honest I have not given this whole thing much thought until very recently....when I was out 60 miles in the dead of winter freezing my *** off and throwing back fat sea bass because NMFS closed it on what everyone swears was bad data I started to look alot deeper into how these decisions are made...

and please know that when I post different articles I am most definitely not saying "hey you guys are wrong look at what this guy said" it is more of a "hey what do we think of this?"

It would seem that everyone is in agreement (or should be anyway) that conservation is something that needs to be considered.

the problem boils down to what mechanism is going to be in place to see that through? NMFS is constantly getting bashed for supposedly using bad data at times so I guess its worthwhile to try to improve their data to make better decisions? So when they form an "ocean task force" to supposedly oversee these decisions by better interfacing with state, federal, local people on paper it sounds like a great idea, no? Of course with any good intention somebody somewhere will seek to take advantage and move along their own agenda. thats the part that blows.

Will be interesting to say the least as to how this develops.
