Not to mention all of the companies that the big 3 squashed before anybody could have ever heard of em. They came to be called the big 3 for a reason, they had a monopoly on the market for a long time. And I agree with the statement about the unions, they had a valueable purpose at one time, now they're just part of the problem. Why should a worker on an assembly line make $30-$60 an hour just to push a button or run some screws in? The guys in the field get paid ALOT less(believe me I know, I used to work at a dealership) to fix THERE FUC@UPS! PDI's could be a real PITA sometimes because the people building these cars just don't care. They sat around for years saying the import craze wouldn't last, well it did last because they built a better product. By the time the big 3 caught up in quality, well what were seeing now is evidence of what happened.

Ferm I know now why you supported McCain! No one or no company is perfect. The Big 3 went before congress and presented a plan for what ended up being a 14B dollar LOAN. Wall street got, so far, 350 billion dollars with no plan and no strings attached. To me it don't seem right. As far as the wages the UAW have made cuts, the guys on the line now make $14-15/ hour. The legacy costs are there because they have been building cars for much longer that the foreign car makers in the south. Its not over yet. There will be a loan. If not we are all in for a rude awakening. Billy Mac
