Wheres Willy on th is....I figured surely his tradition shooting self had fooled with it.
Willy, come out wherever you are!?!?! |
So that silver is paint? Looks good.
Before diabetics messed with my hands I use to build my own fishing rods. Do they do any wrapping of arrows or is it all paint?? I have a sewing machine also for wrapping and use a grill rotisserie motor for drying. I know nothing about arrows, just asking. |
Yes its silver paint.
They have arrow wraps that are stickers that replace the white part, but they are wore expensive and weigh more than just spraying with laquer spray paint. Rottisere motor is a great Idea for drying....never thought of that. Ive used a drill motor for it...works ok. |
The epoxy on rods need to turn for hours so that it doesn't sag before setting up. The rotisserie motor turns a slow perfect speed for just that.
The one I have uses 1/4 socket extension with a rubber cork on the end. I just tape the butt of the rod to the rubber and good to go. They sell all kinds of things to get the rod to the mmotor that will get it straighter if need be, I just a DYI guy that hates to buy stuff, and in the end most of the time it would have been cheaper to buy it new!! |
Agreed....the flex coat I use is good for no sagging after about 2 hours.
OK, here are the final results. I stripped em and changed a few things, widened a couple bands, etc... Fletched and ready to go! I took them today and weighed them. The original I weighed with with just blazers was actually 1.5 grains heavier than the new dipped and crested ones. I know thats not a true difference...probably just a tolerence let go at the factory by Beeman. I guess that means the new ones are actually no heavier. I thought it would make some difference but it didnt. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...g/100_3727.jpg |
Hey Stinkman, beautiful work with the arrows, really very nice. Sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner but I have been busy securing Wall St.
Anyhow I have a modicum of experience with the subject though, so if you got any questions fire away. A little sample of what I have inside the dungeon. Some homemade back quivers assorted accutrements and some arrows.etc. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0759.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0760.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0761.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0762.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0763.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0764.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0765.jpg |
