Looking Sweet Kracker! Probably one of, if not the most epic thread. Wish you were closer so I could come over and drink Nattys.
You do know Natty was the first beer in space right? http://youtu.be/_00eZtsuJ9M |

And her she sits. 1 coat of primer and she's guide coated, sanded and waiting for second coat. My buddies compressor blew up so the motor getting rebuilt. And this hunting and fishing season has taken up alot of time. I will get her done one day. |

So close!!! The floor gets that alaphatic rubber non skid so that's why its not primed. The non skid actually sticks better to raw fiberglass than a primed surfaced. |
looks great!!!lets see the final chapter!! this v is like finding the prize in a kracker jack box.lets see whats in your box!!!!!!!!!!

Been a long time since I have been on here. I hope everybody is doing well Im sure I have missed out on alot of good stuff going on. Im gonna catch up on some threads here in the next couple days. the boat is doing good shes been in a barn all winter with 2 coats of epoxy primer and is ready for top coating. I have all my hardware for her now and my motor is ready to install, so all i need to do is paint her and wire it up. I have been doing some taug fishing and our striper season was one of the biggest dissapointments ever!!! worst striper fishing I have ever seen, all the fish hung out 15 to 20 miles off the beach past the demarcation and never showed there faces inside the 3 mile line at all. Oh well Im ready for this weather to turn so i can get this boat finished up. im posting some pics in the fishing section check them out.
|
Glad to see ya back buddy.....heading over to fishing section now...
|
New member- and wow so much done and it looks great. Thinking of taking on a '75 steplift to CC coversion and your thread is one of the best Ive seen. And one of the best forums with great info. Im up in DE and if I take on the project Kracker Im sure Ill have a million questions... Hope the paint is almost on!

Primed, clean and ready for topcoat. Was gonna paint her today but weather has turned south on us. The boat has been put on hold for quite a while now. But im still pecking away at the ole girl.
|
Awesome! You're getting close now. More fun things in your future rather than grinding and sanding.
|

Installed the transom splash board tonight and installed the console http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbbptgla0.jpg |
Looks really great Kracker! I like the hawse pipes at the stern. Nothing but the little details now.
Makes me want to fix up another one. Great Job!! |
Bradford im a true believer in slick and clean gunwales! Seen to many fish lost due to exposed cleats and hardware. So hawse pipes were a must.

Yours really is beautiful. Mine had 6 inch cleats mounted on the top of the cap. When I re did it I went with 8 inch with just the two thru bolts instead of four for a cleaner look and also moved them down to the lower lip so they are tucked in a little and are on the same plane as the mid ship and bow cleats. I love my 85, but if and when I do another it will be a hull with the separate deck and cap like yours. I'm all about simple clean and functional with minimal rigging. Love your console as well. Gonna be swapping the one I have on my skiff out and I considering just building one so I can get exacting what I want. |
Bradford i purposely wanted a small short console. This boat has been very well thought out. I have fished way to many boats with ridiculously huge tall and wide consoles. I dont get it! I like to be able to have good 360 degree visual on a boat. I also simply need a tach, gps/sonar,compass,steering wheel, controls, and a small switch panel. I dont need any more than that hahaha!!! The key is keeping it simple. When i get a t-top all the electronics will go up there. People make things to complicated!

Console mounted, steering helm mounted and shifter and cables hooked up. Will hopefully be mounting outboard maybe sunday or monday. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...psy4pljwwn.jpg |
Looks great, very clean and simple. Whats the round thing next to the shifter, tachometer?
|
Yea thats the tach......the only gauge a fishing boat needs
|
WOW sorry I saw your post number one then jumped to the last post with pics. What a great job your doing. Amazing. There's something about those Vs. They are old but they still look and ride great. Better than new for sure. Nice looking boat you have there Cappt.

The old 135hp crossflow just dont look right on the back of this boat! I know a many of v20 came out of the factory with a 135 but it just looks wierd on the back of this boat |

A little brainstorming and came up with this steering set up. I didnt want to bolt the steering bracket to the transom. So i made this plate so that it bolted to the motor bracket. Worked out beautifully |
Still coming along nicely. Wet test?
|
Im gonna do her first run in about 2 weeks. Im very excited!
|
Love it man!!! I've been watching from afar....lurking. lol
I've always liked the small simple console thing. Are you planning a leaning post or what kind of helm seating? |
