Just got back from the Dr today, and he said all is healing properly and looks good. But I have 2 more months of walking only restriction on it.

Good to hear a little good news for a change. Hang in there Ferm!

Figured I would update this thread as well. My hip never went back to like it was before I tore it up before I had surgery. It had gotten better until my cardiologist put me on a new med to get my BP down, but the new med has a water pill in it which causes dehydration and that causes joint problems. So for the last few months it has been bothering me quite a bit, then last Tuesday I took my son to the park to play, and I had to grab him to keep him from falling off the walkway and into a concrete lined ditch. In doing so something in my hip popped LOUDLY, and I'm about 99% certain I tore something in it again. I can't get back to the ortho doc until June 8th, so I have to tough it out until then. Not looking forward to being possibly laid up while I have a newborn. So when it rains, it pours. Right now percocet and soma are getting me by until I can get back into the docs, and my stomach is already telling me no more(I've got ulcers and a hole in it from taking so many pills in the past because of all of my problems from my wreck in 2001).

Try and hang tough Ferm, I hope things get better for you my friend

Seen the doc today, and now I'm waiting on approva from my insurance for the special MRI he ordered. He said something about he thinks the gap in my hip has closed up, and is pretty sure something is torn in it as I have ALOT of swelling in my groin area right now. So the waiting game for my insurance, then to get into get an MRI is on. Will probably be July before I have it done as my copay right now is $350, but July 1st my plan changes and will cost me $200 to have it done.

Maybe the swelling in the groin area has something to do with Mrs. Ferm having those kids? J/K!!
Hope things go good for you Ferm. Insurance sucks, but I guess not as bad as no insurance. Picked up a 1995 150 hp Johnson Ocean Runner I've thought about bringing to you to work your magic. |
Well my worst fear was confirmed today. Theres no explanation for why my hip is hurting so bad. He said I have alot of scar tissue in it surrounding the joint, and the images showed some thinning of the cartilage in the joint, but no real explanation for why I'm in so much pain, the joint popping, or why I'm getting so many spasms. So now I get to start steroids, cortizone injections, and a topical pain cream to try and get the swelling down, and see if it can get back to tolerable at least. I was actually hoping the MRI would show a tear or something they could easily fix, but no such luck. I knew the day would come when my youth would catch up to me, and it looks liek that time has come. if they can't help me soon, I'll be back on crutches again fro mthe looks of it. Theres not much they can do for me with pain management with my stomach problems, so it's just sort of hope for the best now.Well my worst fear was confirmed today.
