Yep, You're correct. He (Trump) said the words genius and savvy when describing how Putin was justifying his invasion. There's nothing wrong with giving credit for a smart move. Understand he (Trump) DID NOT condone the invasion. He only said that how Putin was justifying it was genius and that he (Putin) was savvy (smart) in how he presented it to his people and to the world.

Here's his (Trumps) own words, taken from the article that you presented.
Quote:

I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, This is genius. Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine of Ukraine; Putin declares it as independent. Oh, thats wonderful, Trump said in a radio interview with The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show. He used the word independent; and we're gonna go out and we're gonna go in and we're gonna help keep peace. You gotta say that's pretty savvy.
So as anyone can see, President Trump did not condone the invasion. He only said that how Putin described it and was going in to help keep the peace was pretty savvy. Speaking from experience, I can tell you that there's nothing wrong with acknowledging that your enemy is smart. Only a fool underestimates his enemy. Usually a dead fool.

Exactly wrong - Trump was complementing Putin’s sleazy sneaky excuse for attacking Ukraine.
Doesn’t matter how you slice it - it was the wrong thing to be saying.

Like saying Hitlers concentration camps they called “ work camps “ was genius .
Wrong - dead wrong thing to acknowledge .

The men, women, children, elderly in Ukraine would agree with ME - not you and scook .

That’s a pretty vacuous spin to put on the exact words Trump said. It’s completely obvious what he meant.

I’m pretty sure the Ukrainians would agree with the accurate description, recalling that they weren’t attacked and murdered while Trump was in office.

Oh you’re pretty sure the Ukrainians would agree trump calling Putin a genius accurate ?
I think your comment bordering on insane !!!

They would probably be capable of seeing the comment in the context within which it was made, and would certainly support Trump, who’s stature in the world kept them safe from Russia, unlike the two democrats on either side of him. They would also agree with him that the invasion should never have happened, and that Biden botched the time leading up to it.

I suggest you ask a Ukrainian if they think trump referring to Putin as a genius made them feel good. Better yet - you should go to Ukraine and tell everyone there how you see it .

scook 05-15-2022 11:09 PM

Hmm, did I say anything about it making them feel good? I’m suggesting that they would have the wit and honesty to view the comment in context, something you purposefully avoid if it doesn’t serve your narrative.

Funny thing. As I've said several times, I do have family living in both Poland and Ukraine. So I asked them your question. They said that they didn't know what you were talking about but that they always felt safe when President Trump was in office and the wondered how we (the US) could have voted someone like Biden into office.

I told them I wondered how we did also.
