Re: "Guess That Boat" - the game
No.
If I'm not mistaken, this boat manufacturer may have shared hull designs with Formula/Thunderbird. I sort of remember something along those lines from the dark recesses of this squash of mine. My memory isn't what it used to be. ::) |

Re: "Guess That Boat" - the game
I fizzled out huh :'(
CB, you ever heard the story behind Popcraft by Thunderbird? Even if you have I'm going to tell it anyway since others may have not. From what I understand, back in the 60's when the fiberglass revolution was taking over, there were several crooked backyard hacks (like Skools and MJ ;D) who would take the most popular hull designs of the time and use them to "pop" a mold in order to begin selling copycat versions. They were able to sell cheaper since they didn't have to create the molds from scratch. This ticked off the higher-ups at Thunderbird and other big names of the time so they decided to even the score by playing the same game. They started Popcraft which was a line of boats that they made and sold dirt cheap to undercut the crooks that were "popping" thier hulls. Hence the name Popcraft. My first boat was a 17' Popcraft by Thunderbird. ;D And it was a pretty tough old boat to be in service from 1968 - 2004 (and possibly still in service). Not to mention I sank it in '02 ::) Some pix of my old Popcraft named "Cash Money": http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...g?t=1166625308 http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...g?t=1166625352 http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...g?t=1166625368 If I only had a dollar for every fish that boat caught 8) |
