Part I (1365 character limit on these posts! Who knew?!?)
Hey guys, dad bought a brand new galvanized trailer for his Mckee. I went to the lake with him to swap trailers on Wed. We did some pre-adjustements at the house before we left, then had to do some bunk adjustements at the lake. When I went to fire the motor, before I even turned the key I saw some fuel leaking out of the cowl as I was lowering the motor into the water. Come to find out if was leaking out of the the fuel side of the VRO fuel pump. See Part II..........

Part II
'cont.....At first it was coming out pretty good and I could force it out by pumping the ball. After a bit it was still leaking but not as bad so I fired the motor. Took a little while, prob due to old fuel since it hasn't been cranked since last fall. Once I got it going it ran and idled good. When we got it back to the house we started checking the leak. I could only detect a very very slight leak, not even enough to drip when I pumped the ball xtra hard, but you could see it slowly coming out. I figure the gasket in the pump had gotten dry causing the leak, then when the new fuel hit it it swelled and almost stopped the leak. We broke out some tools and tightened the little star screws that hold the clamshell VRO fuel pump together. Got over a 1/4 turn on all screws. After that the leak seems fixed. Boy those pump screws are a B!tch to get to but we did it. I'm hoping this fixed the issue!

Hope that fixed it for ya Blue. I hate having mechanical problems with the season starting up.

True, true. If it doesn't fix it we'll just throw some money at it. What's another $1000 anyway?
Spare what do you think? Have you heard of the leaky fuel pump situation? Info is scarce on the interweb re this subject.
