What are your new plans for fuel tanks? I have the same tanks and I am thinking of checking and/or changing my fuel pick up tubes. The last time I ran a tank empty, it only took 17 gallons to fill up the 20 gallon tank.

These tanks come in 17 and 20 gal size. Check the tank tag to see what you have? When was the last time you cleaned the tanks?? Might have something blocking the pick up when it get low??

My 1975 tanks had lots of junk in them when I got it, I removed the tanks cleaned all got rid of the anti siphon balls and reinstalled, never had a problem for 9 years after. And they last forever not being under the deck all wet all the time!!

And be careful of the OEM replacements, the only two available for mine (18 gal. & 24 gal.) won't fit without putting a 1 1/2" shim for the fuel nozzle and on the 24 gallon one I'll also have to cut the backsplash curb.
I only found this out from measuring both ends of the tanks and their mounting locations and cutting a piece of plywood to shove up in place.

I removed and cleaned my tanks just over 1 year ago when I was replacing the transom and repowering and re-wiring (preparing for the first splash). I did not remove the pick up tubes but I did inspect the inside of the tanks and they looked good. The tags on the tanks listed a capacity of 20 gal. I am not planning on replacing them at this time.

If I'm not mistaken the only difference in the 17 (18) gal. and the (19) 20 gal. is the overall length.

Still, sorry for not making myself clear.
As for MJ and the 17 or 20 gal tanks, there is a good likelyhood the only difference in the original type was the length of the tanks.
The OEM***8217;s (at least for my ***8220;75) are as I stated.
Jetty Rocker would be better off to fix his, get jason***8217;s or be prepared for a bunch of crap if replacing with the only two types available new, being the 18 or 24. Or do the right thing and have them custom made for $400 each and up.
I know, I just replaced the port tank on mine.
