well, today was the last day of school so my kids got off the bus with mixed feelings but looking forward to the summer for the most part.
decided to go out and do a bit of fishing/cruising.
about 10 minutes out from the dock i see a county helicopter and i know somethings up. coast guard was next, and they passed me pretty fast in a 5 zone so theres a problem for sure. constable, local police and a few other assorted agencies zipping about.
i immediately know whats going on.
theres a recreation center surrounding the local boat ramp and kids always playing around the area.
so i shoot over to one of the coastguard boats and try to find out where and when it took place.
tried to calculate the tide and joined in the search.
we all searched for about a half hour, pwc's, recreationals, kayakers and the local agencies.
finally a small cg zodiac with divers right next to us found what we had all been dreading.
seems a 14 year old boy was fooling around with some friends and just wasnt a strong enough swimmer. unfortunately my kids had to be involved with all this but it was very sobering for us all.

WOW!!!

HELLUVA DAY.

WATCH THOSE KIDS.

So sorry to hear that man....well done for helping.

We had a 12 yo boy drown here a few weeks ago. it seems that its becoming more and more common place around here due to the sheer volume of folks on the water nowadays....

Seen the same myself, this is the reasons a good parent needs to make sure that their children can swim well!

My prayers go out to that boys family and friends.

And to you and your kids CTT. I know first hand that being involved in a life saving effort only to have it end in a death can be quite emotionally taxing.
