I think I like the 2nd one a whole lot better. Not crazy about the lift though.
The red one - amazing how a 16 year old truck with near 200k can be close to 6k. That blows my mind - but then again these trucks have one hell of a resale value, which of course is evident in that they are hard to find. Like you said Cy, needle in the haystack fo sho!
Good luck buddy! I would love to have one of those but it wouldn't work out for towing the V long distances.

I don't like the lift and it looks as though it was rode a bit hard. I do like black though.:sun:

I like the red one. Needs to be checked out really well for rust cover up because the early models were notorious for bed rust.

I don't know how far it is from you, but I found one on eBay. It has a couple of things I'm not crazy about but I thought I'd share it w/ ya.

thanks BR, but with the KID on the way in late December I really need an extended cab to put a baby seat in.
Hey CB, you think a baby seat will fit in the back of your truck?

Mine is an '04 and I have 56k miles on it. I have no idea what it's worth. Yes, a baby seat would fit back there. When my grandson is with us, he makes my wife ride in back there. :you: The one downside to the Tacoma Xtra Cabs up to '04 is that they never made them with a third door. '05 and up with the new body styles have the doors for the jump seat area. Kids don't seem to mind climbing in there, but it's not easy for an adult. Accessing that area for child seats or groceries or whatever your hauling isn't too bad a task though.

Cy, I wouldnt buy a lifted truck with gas prices the way they are. Even the little trucks can be pigs when they are lifted.
As far as the child seat, I would look for a quad cab. I put my son in the back of my Ram 1500 Quad Cab and you have to put the front passenger seat pretty far forward for it to fit. Definitely try putting a car seat in the back before you make your decision.

The red one is very nice looking, but $6K for 183,000 miles, no thank you, besides I never will own a Red auto, they are bad luck!!
Black looks nice but agree on the lift and kind of beat look, but it only has 118,000 and it is a recalled truck (95 to 2000) for roted frames, you have till 2015 to get the recall if it is not roted right now.
And they pay you 1 1/2 the Blue Book excellent value! You might make money on that one?

Cy, children need to be rear facing for the first year. My bruiser son is 6 months old and has outgrown his infant seat which was $279:oh: with the stroller. He is already over 20 lbs and my wife went out last night to buy him the next level car seat. She bought him a Britax to the tune of $219:you: Thats a total of $500 on car seats in 6 months:hi:

Yeah, and depending on which state you live in, you may even have to buy a third level seat :nut:

Mulv mentioned that he had to buy the next level of car seats (for his growing child); that new car seat is appropriate for a certain height and weight range. Some states have different laws such that you'd have to buy yet another car seat for children who are bigger than the intermediate seat is rated for...

hey cy, i too like the extended cab, but i think the way to go would be a 4 door pickup.
i cant imagine its going to be easy to get a baby into a car seat in the back of that little cab.
i'm kinda looking for the 4 door because the 2 stooges need some room back there and they each want their own door.
C YENSEN

cant afford a 4 door, and i like the look of the extended cab better:beer: but it is going to be difficult to to get that dam car seat in there:bat:

Cy, You will not fit a car seat in that truck. If I were you I would tell the wifey that you need a bigger truck because of the car seat. Its the perfect reason for a bigger, safer vehicle.

BR.....would love to have that one, but dont have the cash for it till I sell this dam JEEP.
Mulv....the child seat will spend most of the time in the minivan, but on rare occasions i might need to take the kid with me.
I already have a bigger safer truck.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a282/cyensen54/boat/DCP_2915.jpg
but i have to get rid of it cause the payments and gas is killing me. I got laid off 1 day (8 hours) a week, and money is tight. (dam housing market:bat:)
the truck is getting traded in on a used minivan, and want to get some equity out of the jeep to put in the bank. then buy a used truck with cash and still have some left to leave in the bank.
That is the goal anyway.
So on the rare occasion can i put the child seat sideways in the back of the tacoma?????

Cy, I feel your pain about the Ram. I too have the Hemi and a payment and its getting ridiculous to put $100 a week in gas alone into the truck.
As far as the sideways facing carseat. I would go to your local firehouse and ask their opinion or if you have one yet your Pediatrician. The firehouses in Phila. have at least one firefighter who is trained in proper child seat installation and can give you advice to insure proper fit. Your area may have a similar set up. Also your pediatrician will know the safest way to transport the baby in a small truck. It may be in the front seat with the airbag off, if equipped.

Cy that sucks about your job. I know you are a bright guy and won't have much problem finding something. You could do your own landscape design business. Just gotta cater to the rich....I hear they are the ones spending the money right now. I wouldn't know.
Hang in there buddy, good times are right around the corner. I think there will be some reprieve in the market even if it is after November but I hope not that long.
