With my up and coming birthday this weekend and the fact that I'm off work a couple days this week Ive decided to try and fish like 6 out of the next 5 days. LOL
Not that a Bday is a big deal to me, but its an excuse to fish and milk undue attention from the Mrs.
Every time I ask for something while sitting on the couch I say "don't forget honey....its my birthday week" :sun: LOL
Anyways....yesterday started the week off nicely.

yes there are big bream....the bream and small bass population has gotten so out of hand over there though thats its hard to catch any bigger bream in numbers. Its also a deep lake so I have to change tactics abit for that. I was after some quick vittles yesterday so dink bass is what i like. Heres a nice bream outta there.

I caught all the bass on a 1/8 oz. black and yellow striped bettlespin....same one Ive used the last few times when me and Lexie went....they LOVE it!
And yes I fry them....they are EXCELLENT eating that size...one of my favorites!
:clap:Happy Birthday week!!:sun:

Me and the girls went tonight...we had a good time. As yall can imagine it was about quality and not quantity.

We got 5 bass and 1 nice channel cat. I got him on a 4# test ultralight. It took about 15 minutes to get him in...good stuff.
He went 6#14oz. on the digital scale.

He was an old fellow...you could tell it was time for him to be taken out.....very old guy....dont know how much longer he would have made it. I bet back in his hayday he was over 10 pounds. I didnt get a side shot, but his head was wide as heck!

Those are the cutest lil Stinkies I've ever seen!
BTW - That big old bream would have been on my dinner plate...I miss the old days when me and my buddy had about 10 - 15 ponds to choose from where we could slay those big purple bream just like that one.
Nice kitty cat.
Happy Birthday week!

Lex and I hit the pond again yesterday evening and added about 5 more to the mess at home on ice. We lost several others.

A good bit of the fish have come from this little pond at one end of the lake....is was formed years ago from some construction and drainage work. Its only about 75x50 and is connected through a really shallow grass flat to the main lake.

I would have to say over the last couple weeks we have pulled 30+ fish outta that little shallow "pond".
I cleaned the mess from the last few days this morning....26 bass and one big nasty cat. I was expecting him to be really tough, but he seemed ok. We will know when I try to cook him. :bat:
The numbers in there have gotten way out of control due to no fishing....We are trying to do our part, but I doubt we are knocking a dent in it. You can tell they need thinning out because almost everytime you pull a lure in or a fish there are two or three following it.
Now....I dont want to see another bass for awhile. Comon saltwater! :sun:
