Still deciding about a gps. Either a Lowrance lms 527 i-gps, or a garmin 440s. I know with the blue chart card that, say I'm coming in the inlet and hit goto where I dock the boat that it will follow the channel, I'm wondering though will the Lowrance do the same or will it just draw a straight line?

I don't have the spare cash to go out and buy a new one, so I just have to settle for what I can scrounge up. But on the local fishing site( charlestonfishing.com)they have had numerious topics on this subject, there have been a lot of issues with the Lowrance products as compared to Garmin, but people that have had issues with Lowrance also tell how well their customer service is in getting their issues taken care of. on the boats we sell, they usually install Raymarine, with garmin as second choice. I personally have an older North Star that I plan to install on my boat. The comercial guys really like the Furono and Sitex.

pick up a copy of Comercial Fisherman, they have factory reman Furono and Sitex units advertised in there for competitive prices, they may be a little big and clunky, and probably will xray a fish in less than 100 feet, but they are the real deal

Hey ferm, they just installed a Ray Marine E80/E120 dual screen set up, with Ray radar, Simrad Auto pilot in a 420 we just sold. Its got the platinum charts. The set up cost more than my wifes car/ my car/ my boat(yeah, I know its not worth much) put together. We had a 45 motor yacht that sold last year that had twin E120's, open array, three cameras, auto pilot, KVH satillite TV, High Speed Satillite connection, Sirrius radio/weather fax. He's talking about getting a FLIR to see at night. That set up cost more than half the cost of my house. Its just sick what gets spent on gadgets.

I've always been a BIG SITEX fan. Plus they're less than an hour from me.

I have 3 Lowrances ......... love them and haven't had any problems ....... While I haven't tried that feature, I've found that the Garmin and Lowrances usually have the same features and operate about the same .....
