So I spent the majority of last Thursday over hauling the electronics on my new V-20. First up was a new dash panel. I picked up all new gauges, teleflex amega, Voltmeter, Fuel Gauge, and Tach with System Check. Added a new switch panel and flush mounted the GPS. I was pretty happy with the results, all went well minus one routing error on the bottom right.... :(

Then I added a new Clarion 4 channel amp and 4 Infinity 602M's. WOW!! They sound awesome. I was totally surprised at how loud and clear they can get. (sorry no pics of the amp install, its mounted on the starboard side in the cabin)

Lastly I added four LED strips in the rod boxes for deck lighting. I picked up 9" waterproof strips from superbrightleds.com for only $7 a strip. The pics are blury but you get the idea.

I also added a ACR and changed out the battery switch for one of the blue seas off-on-combine switches. Hopefully that should keep everything juiced up for me.

I would like the hardtop for the stereo and the VHF but I like having the GPS down low so I can see it standing or sitting.

Yes on the new boat the GPS and Fish Finder are on the dash!! The box I got cheap and thought I would use it as a catch all, but now like you say it woud be great for the VHF and Music.

Your dash looks great. I'm planning a very similar setup. Does the gps proximity to the compass effect the compass? I was concerned because I was playing around with relocating the vhf near there and the compass would swing around and follow the radio.

I can't really tell...the compass has lost all of its oil so it bobs and weaves way too much. I know it says the right direction (N E S W) when I am sitting still, but not sure how accurate it is. Once I got the GPS I never look at the compass anyway.

I have been thinking about a switch panel like that one. It is a really nice and sleek design. Looks great, keep up the good work.
I am also thinking about the strip led lights, could you post a better picture so I can see how well the light the deck.

Thanks for the compliments. I really wasn't sure I wanted to drop the cash on the blue sea switch panel but it has been worth every penny. I still need to find some weatherproof stripping for between the starboard and the dash to keep water out from behind the dash. Anyone have a suggestion as I can only find 1/4 stuff that is way to thick, looking for maybe 1/8"...
As far as the the lights I will see if I can get some better pics this week. If I had to do it again I would have used a different one of their LED strips... Like this one
http://www.superbrightleds.com/light_bars-flexible.html
WFLS and NFLS series Flexible Light Strips
The waterproof ones. Just as cheap, little brighter and thinner.
Also some other ideas...

Did you get the option while ordering the panel as to the type of switches, i.e. DPDT?
Are the switches illuminated?
Did it come with the labels you needed or did you tell them which labels you wanted?
I know, too many questions. Just humor me and answer one at a time if needed.
Looks good keep up the work. And more photos every chance you get. :bat:

I like simple questions...makes me feel smart...
No I didn't get to choose, they are are SPST but the place I got them online (boatfix.com) had the switches for pretty cheap, so I added a DPDT LED to the basket and just swapped them out when it got here.
Comes with about 50 labels for most anything you can think off.
Switches light up when turned on, just the switch not the label so you have to learn where everything is.

Looks great. I did mine two years ago, along with all new wires from bow to stern. I like the switches and placments you choose.

Thanks...figuring out where to put everything was the hardest part, I thought it was going to be easy but it takes time to space everything out.
When you ran the bow light wires where are they located? Are they in the head liner?

:head:I can't remember that off the top of my head...two years and many many beers. I will look next time I go down to the boat and see if it brings back any horrific memories.

His website is vectorled.com You can also check out a lot of his work on classicmako.com that is where I came across his work. He doesn't list his prices but if you like his work I would highly recommend you shoot him an email and he will get back with you quickly...I don't think you will be disappointed with his prices. He has lots of ideas and experience. Do me a favor though and tell him how you heard about him.
