I am adding a tach to my V20 but can't find the harness. The boat was rigged with only a voltmeter and a fuel tank meter. Where are the wires for the Tach? The motor is a 2000 Johnson 150 and the tach is a teleflex combo unit, Tach and System check. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I Have a Johnson and the tach wires are integrated with the system check wires because they are the same gauge. I think the wire you need is rectangular and it should be in the engine harness.
This may help

I think I may need an entirely new harness as I am either missing or can't find all the harnesses. I am assuming the boat was rigged with an 84 (year of the hull) prior to repowering to the 2000 and when they repowered I think they used the old harness. So I think I need a post 1996 johnson harness...anyone have one lying around???

What does the plug on the engine look like? They may have used the adapter and retained the old harness. If so you'll need the newer harness for the system check guage to work properly.

That harness would get me the tach, but I don't think the system check gauges would work. I went ahead and ordered the new harness, found one for cheap at a surplus store, and now I think I may need an old controls to new harness adapter.... unless I just get new controls...hmmmm that would be nice ;)

My bad, sorry, I didn't read the part about the combo unit that you have...
