I followed that link and this is what I got:

"You are not allowed to view this content unless it is approved."

I guess I must have been too liberal for them. Despite not getting to see the video, I can guess how it went. Eyeblast.tv is an organ of the Media Research Center, a conservative group whos stated goal is "documenting, exposing and neutralizing liberal media bias."

I have worked in media for years and I always get a kick out of claims that the established news media leans liberal. That is simply not the truth, nor has it ever been. News organizations are owned by large corporations that are, by nature, conservative. While it is true that the 24/7 news channels will air anything that gets them ratings, (war sells), they ALL tend to skew conservative. The New York Times is often accused of having a liberal bias, but administration scare stories published in the Times were largely responsible for our getting into the war in Iraq. Perpetuating the false boogeyman of "Liberal Media" is a tool that has successfully manipulated at least a generation of Americans. So beware the videos that you see online denigrating or, for that matter, trumpeting any particular candidate. They might be good for a laugh, but the best way to learn about the candidates is to look at their voting records and see if you agree with their decisions. You can get unbiased info on the candidates at www.votesmart.org

So you are telling me that NBC and CNN are not bias? I get a kick out of you saying that all the media is conservative.............

I take it you are voting for Obama?

with all due respect to your opinion you are either hanging out smoking something illegal or you have been living in a bubble. I too have spent a great many years dealing with the major news media knowing the facts and seeing what is reported and how.
Maybe in some areas of the country you have some organizations that actually report the facts but the major news media (print cable and network) are so blatantly left wing that I no longer consider them news media at all but a tool of those that lean that way and whose editorializing of all the news is bordering on propaganda.
That being said I generally lean on the conservative side of most issues or as I really see it, on the American side of those issues I am also more centrist or liberal on some. As I believe anybody who uses their own head is.
But your statement flies in the face of reason and reason is something very important to maintain in this world of ours.

Willy you and I are of the same opinion.

I do not want to hijack the thread and swing it to a political debate about the media so I will state my case on Obama. There is something about Obama that is just plain scary. If even a quarter of the things that are mentioned in that video are true, you can't help but question if this man is fit to lead the greatest country on earth. He is too reckless in his ideology and I feel that is directly related to his mentor/pastor that he has been influenced by for the last 18 years. As you can tell I am a Republican and to even say this makes me quiver but if it came down to Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama I would have to pick Mrs. Clinton. JMHO and nothing more.

Irregardless my vote will go for the candidated that I feel is best fit to lead this country whether it is a Rep, Dem, black, white, male, or female and with the candidates at hand my vote will be for John McCain.

I don't know as I will vote this time out, but if I don't it will be the first presidential election that I have sat out in years. Really, I don't care for any of the candidates and the general election is a joke anyway. (Witness the insanity surrounding the 2000 election as a reference.) That isn't the point anyway. To answer your main question yes, I do believe the media has a bias and it is NOT liberal. You have to follow the money and Liberals don't have any real money, or at least they didn't until the rise of the practice of gathering campaign contributions online. Big money is almost always conservative.

There is a lot of money to be made in wars, especially by the media. Ratings on the 24/7 cable news channels skyrockets when a war breaks out. Perhaps you missed the story that broke this weekend about the former officers turned military analysts who went on the cable news channels and chatted up the administration's talking points for months in the beginning of the war. Turns out they were not just former officers, they were also private contractors hired by the Pentagon to make sure the right "spin" was placed on the news coverage.

People's opinions have been manipulated by The Media for years, but most of them are not even aware it is happening and I don't expect that to change. Nobody wants to believe it when you point it out anyway. That is true genius at work.

I was afraid for a moment you might say Hillary. Even people who liked Bill hated her and I am amazed she has done as well as she has in the primaries. But then her persistence in winning the Senate seat in New York has stunned me too. She is a force to be reckoned with.

Valiant I did not say I worked in the media, I had to deal with the media in all forms on issues from race relations to capital crimes as a Police Commander and having relationships with those who worked in it.
And I am also aware that media is led around by manipulators performing dis-information from diffrent groups with diffrent motives.
With that in mind my premise that the liberal editorializing of the news by the major news entities in this country is rampant and blatant still stands. The worst offenders are the NY Times, Washington Post, several of the big western papers, the major news outlets on cable and TV owned by Turner and others like CNN MSNBC NBC CBS and many others too include the PBS news outlets which irrates me to no end.
I would like the news to inform me, let me see all sides of the issue, opinions from all sides of the debate at hand, ask relevant questions and demand answers from all sides equally.
The closest I have seen that in the cable news networks is Fox News. I am not enthralled with everything from them either but when it comes to presenting all sides of the issue and giving equal time to the various positions and opinions I feel they do the best job in the industry hands down. Apparently so do many millions of other viewers for the same reason as they have dwarfed the previous big outlet CNN.
When you watch the returns comes in on the election eve going back and forth between the major news outlets and see the honest reporting on one hand and you see the editorial version on the other channels it is stunning to me. When you observe the talking heads literally in tears when THEIR candidate is apparently losing in the last two presidential elections that is extremely revealing.
Yes my premise stands, so get your news from multiple sources, filter it down to the facts, believehalf of what you read and none of what you hear and try to dicern the truth in it as best you can.

With Your Permission, I Would Like To Put My 5 Cents In The Conversation.

I'm Cuban, American Citizen, I Lived In A Comunist County Until I Was 24 Yrs Old, I Was Not Allowed To Vote Nor Express My Ideas. Ever Since I've Been In Us
A Have Voted In Every Elction, No Matter How Small It Is, Because It Gives Me A Enormous Satisfaction To Know That My Opinion Counts, So I Dont Care How Not Appealing The Candidates Are, I Would Not Renounce Of Voting.

Now, If Your Selecting A Person For A Job (president Is The #1 Job In America) And You Read The Resume Of The Two Final Candidates, One With Two Years Experience (?) And The Other With 24 Years Experience, One Practicly Out Of School (harvard), (an Out Of Work Lawyer=politician) The Other An Oficer Graduated From West Point And Pow, Who Are You Going To Choose?

All in all I do love and enjoy our country.
If this election dosen't prove but one thing is the fact of the capability of anyone becoming someone, all the way up to the seat of office, of the president of the United States.
If we ain't had a whole mix of vegetables in the pot that have ran (and succeeded) for office the last few terms, I'll kiss MJ on the crack of the butt and give ya'll 3 days to draw a crowd!!
LESTERUS, you're inflated 2***8373; is appreciated.
