I need a color 5" (min) screen. I prefer Lowrance/eagle rather have Furuno but can't afford. Anyone know where I can get a good color GPS for $300-350 range?

I've started looking on e bay.

Buy this Northstar for $423 and don't look back. Its the same one I've had for about 4 years now, maybe five.

I agree, I have had the Gamin 178C and loved it, now I have a 420S on the way. I will be using the 420S for GPS only but it does have the Sonar option built in and it is right around your price range

I have a Lowrance 3500c with Navionics Gold chip and am very happy with it. There are a lot of NMEA networking options that you can add on like the fluid level and fuel flow meters. Mine now tells me gph and mpg as well as fuel level. Some other models (5300c) are on Ebay (new) for $435.

I agree with Air on this one, get a good used North Star if you can, Garmin next.
I bought a Standard Horizon color GPS last fall for cheap! and i was brand new. I have not used it yet so I can't say one way or the other howit works.

BUt if I don't like it I will go NS or Garmin for sure.
