Any of you fellows using downriggers, I installed my set on the GSpot as seen in the modifications post and used them for the first time yesterday, everything worked great, But there is a harmonic (vibration?) sound that eminates from them when used, I can tune it like a guitar string as I raise and lower the weight to different depths. Don't know if fish can hear it but I sure can so I am assuming they most certainly can.
Anybody know how to get rid of it?

My number two son with a couple of small Lakers we pulled on the new rig yesterday.

Willy, I have zero experience with down riggers. However I have read a little about them. I've heard of the "hum" and I think this is the reason not many folks use them fast trolling offshore. I think there is a way to reduce it by what type of line or cable you use on the rigger but I don't recall the details. I would search on the bassbarn for downrigger info. I bet you'll find some good info. Or even just by googling.

Nice lakers! Looks mighty tasty!

Blue started down the right track. The cable creates the hum that you here. Some people switch out to 200# spectra. I'm not sure it that would be silent, or just quiter?

Only photos I got posted Air, left the camera in the truck by accident, along with my phone(not accident).
Cold on the water, my son toughed it out, temp and wind combined to make it a little bit of a torture test. He did good but notice his face in the pics, looks like he has been out sledding in the snow

HEY WILLIE!!
WHEN I WAS A MATE ON A CHARTER OUT OF HATTERAS (during my high school days) WE USE TO TIE A LEATHER SRAP (LIKE A SHOE LACE) AND TIE IT TO THE LINE (ON THE OCEAN SIDE OF THE DWN RIGR) AND TO ANYTHING. THIS WOULD SOFTEN OR GROUND THE LINE AND REMOVE THE HUM.
