They used to be 1 layer of glass finished off with a chopper gun spraying shredded mat and glass inside. entry level hull, but better than Bayliner

Think Mulv owns a Renkin. Looked at two before buying the V and stringers were rotted on both. But they had outboards on them. SKOOL Hates them. It looks good in the Pics. ;)

If I did own a Renken, which I don't, I would use it as an artificial reef site for fishing. I have never heard a good word about Renken. Through the years the Renken Company has changed names at least 3 times to escape a bad image but the quality of the boats never improved.

Hammer I take offense to you saying I own a Renken, I haven't told anyone about that 86 Bayliner Capri with the 85 hp Force you have been restoring :o and you try to out me as a Renken owner :'( Thats not cool

;D ;D ;D

Well then I guess you guys are gonna here somethin new today. Back in the early 90's a guy my dad fished with bought a RENKEN 2488 brand new with a 350 I/O. He run the SH!T out of that boat for over 3 years before he had the first hull problem with it. And when I say he beat on it, he BEAT ON IT!!!!! 10 foot seas for him and airtime was a normal occurrence, he got the name KRAZY LENNY because of how he run it. He NEVER missed a weekend fishing trip with that boat, except for a full blown hurricane(a tropical storm would make him think twice, but not detur him). It was some true 12 foot seas that ended up causing his hull problem after 3 years, which was a seperation of the cap from the ull along a 4 foot section in the cabin. He made it home still, and RENKEN fixed the boat no questions asked. He fished it in this same manner for at least another 5 years without issue. With the kind of abuse I seen him put that boat through, I don't think ANY boat could hold up to him any better. The RENKEN's really impressed me after seeing how he abused his without major issue's for so long. I've seen CONTENDER's break apart in less seas than he put his through.

I know SKOOLS hates em with a true passion though ;D.

Talked a couple of days ago to a guy who was a Renken salesmen for 20 yrs. and he didn't have anything good to say about them.

They used to be built on James Island, whereI live, and are known locally as "Stinkin' Renkens"
