my tach only has two wires coming out of the back a green and black. I'm looking at a tach that has three wires, green black and YELLOW will this tach work witha 1986 Yamaha 150? what is the exta wire for?

Your old tach was probably powered off of the tach output, and your newer one probably uses a seperate power source. What model tach is it? Maybe a picture of the hook-ups on the 2?
