I haven't heard much lately about the E-tec's. Now they have been out a couple more years and some of you guys got one how are they holding up. Heard of any major problems yet.

My E-Tec has been fantastic. Quiet, immediate starts idles at 500 therefore I troll with it. Blown heads yes there have been some, not mine. All brands have blown heads. Evinrude has a great warranty. If the head does blow they pull the entired head and it's replaced usually in about 7 days. Would I buy one again? Yes! Billy Mac

I love my 200 hp I had a blown head due to dealer retardation , brp replaced it quick and no questions asked now that I have a dealer that knows his product iam very impressed with mine. now we just need some warmer weather so we can use it.

seen a bunch of blown powerheads :/
that i problem was linked mostly to 05 250hp due to a cooling issue. changed in 06 powerhead design.

Is most of the blown heads due to cooling?

only on that certain design of the 250's it was a cooling issue. was not an issue for the 225 or 200h.o.'s. and yes on the big engines.

From what I have read, alot of the blown powerheads have been from poor set-up. The dealers don't want to take the time to set them up properly with the right prop for the hull.

ferm you are 100% rite i call it dealer retardation mine wasnt running at the proper rpms and I told the dealer several times and he said no its fine ... till the power head went then I switched dealers and brp even paid for my new SS prop:sun:

Just looking for guesstimates how fast would a v20 run with an E tec 150, 175, or 200? Also how are they on fuel. And which would be the best match for the boat.

fuel burn above 1500-2000 rpm is the same as a 4stroke and below that its 30-40% better when trolling than a 4 stroke. also i find that the 150 has more torque than the 200 unless you go with the H.O. model.
like stated above you have to prop the engine out right.

Yeah I was thinking either the 150 or the 175.

both good engines we rigged twin 175's on a 26 pro line and she would still get up and run with out tabs down on a single engine. i would go with the 150 and use the money you save on other things for your boat. it isnt a big difference in hp you probably talking maybe 10- 15 dyno hp difference and on the water that maybe a mph gain.

Yeah thats true. I found an 150 07 down here with 11 hours for $9,900.
