Dear Friends,

Last night I had the strangest dream. It was so real, so life-like and so vivid I woke

up in a cold sweat.

Let me describe it to you briefly...

1. Hillary wins the Democratic Party nomination for President of the United States
2. Naturally, she wants to choose as her running mate someone with a lot of knowledge and experience in government and foreign affairs, someone who is a seasoned campaigner who could bring a lot of strength to the ticket. Who better than Bill, her husband?!!!

3. Hill and Bill go on to win the election in November and the Democrats maintain control of the House and the Senate.

4. Hillary is sworn in as President on January 20, 2009. The next day, after all the inauguration parties are over, she calls a press conference to make an announcement: she is resigning as President!!! Bill, as the Vice President, immediately becomes President!!! This is all perfectly legal under the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, for it states that no person "may be elected as president more than twice". Bill is not being elected for a third term but is merely serving out the remainder of Hillary's term --- all 4 years of it.

5. But wait! There's more! The following day Bill calls a press conference to make an announcement. He has chosen someone to fill the now vacant Vice President Position. Guess who he picks? Why, Hillary, of course!!!

Now you stay awake and let me get some sleep !!!!!!!

You know, yesterday I also thought--can Bill serve as VP. It is true, that the 22nd amendment does not bar him from serving as VP, nor would it bar him from serving as President in the event of resignation, impeachment, incapacity, death, etc. I'm not one to generally comment on political matters either, but I am with CYensen. I think it would be great. We sure enjoyed some good years under Bill Clinton.

sorry, but my industry( boat business) suffered some of the worst years in history under slick willy, especially considering fuel was relativily cheap. For me at least, trickle down economics supports me and my wife. The big economic boost we saw under Clinton was mainly due to the opening of the on line market place( and no, they didn't invent it). Look back at how many major, big money industrys were started during those years as a direct by product of the internet. I have issues with the current administration, but would I swap them for the Clintons, hell no! Just my .02

Okay, I said I wouldn't get into a political discussion, but the price of gas is economics.

Everyone in the good ol' USA needs to understand something: the POTUS does not set the price of oil. There is precious little he/she can do to even slightly influence the supply of oil, let alone the price.

The same goes for the economy. Aside from changing income tax rates, the POTUS cannot greatly influence the economy. All he/she can do is try to take credit/try to deflect blame for the economy of his/her term.

Got it?

BTW, this thread ought to be in Off Topic.

For me personally I am in another election situation where I again do not have a candidate (that has a chance of winning) to pick from that is not screwed up beyond belief, for many reasons.
i am so ashamed of our country that they cannot seem to field people of intelligence, character and a strong belief in the constitution of this country.
Instead we get crap on two legs, imagine the greatest country on the planet and the best we have to offer is Hillary, Mcain etc.
We are taxed beyond reason, and with any of them the taxes are going to get worse, with the Arkansas Bimbo they are going to go thru the roof.
We are going to get forced into a medical system that will be another big money boondoggle that will screw everyone of us, our constitutional rights under all the amendments will be sold down the river and we will fall under the International Approval doctrine for every thing we do.
The political landscape will exponentially change so that those that are here illegally will become legal and the political power bases will change dramatically in every major population center. You think politicians don't listen to, take advantage of middle class white america now, within five years all you will be is a large suckling pig for others to feed off.
I don't like a lot of what has happend under GW, he has made some terrible mistakes, Clinton made as many if not more, putting Billary back in office will be akin to sticking a pencil in your eye.
We need change, we need accountability, we need inspiration. We need someone who understands that going forward and making these changes has to be done with respect to the past, who got us here, their sacrifises and hard work, the constitution which has guarenteed our existence and
freedoms.
We need someone who respects our nations soverinty, our borders and most importantly the men and women who built this country and ensure they are taken care of.
The way things have been run in this country since the New Deal era is that if the government runs it, is involved in it , it turns to a sh!t quagmire with no escape.
God help us if the B!tch gets into office, and Lord please give us a decent republican to vote for.

OK, as someone who lived in Canada for 10 years this is one point I actually have to agree on. I consider myself Democrat but knowing what universal health care is like and also working in the pharma industry I have a hard time with the Democratic take on this issue.

My buddy had to wait 9 months for an MRI on his knee because it was not 'high priority'. universal health care has its merits but for 'low priority' procedures it sucks.

Well if your going to bash the guy get the facts right. The scandle involving Enron took place from around 1995 to late 2000 as they cooked the books to make it look like everything was just fine with the company. Then in 2000/2001 the sh%^ hit the fan and the company went bankrupt. I voted for RP down here in SC too...tired of govt as usual and wanted to shake things up...he seems to be neither Dem nor Rep...just what we need...someone w/some INDEPENDENT thinking for a change who doesn't have his (or her) nose way up some lobbyist's bung-hole...as long as the majority continues to follow the two party system, we'll be slaughtered like a flock of sheep ... these bastids don't go to Washington to govern...they go to make as much money as they can squeeze outta the system any way they can squeeze it ... and we just sit back and watch 'em do it and do nothing about it, so we're gettin' what we're askin' for ... I don't want the gov't to do a damm thing for me except get outta my way, get outta my life and get outta my pocket, and one way or another Reps and Dems do a whole lot of all THREE ... because that's what they're in BUSINESS to do ... spendin' time standin' on one sideline or the other, cheerin' on either of the party favorites is like rootin' for the rapist or the robber...do ya wanta be raped or robbed??...cause w/either, yer gonna get one or the other...

If we'll all take our heads outta the sands of partisan politics and start thinkin, and votin' for ourselves, we can get control of our lives and this country back in our own hands instead of givin' it up to a bunch of lilly-livered con-artists posin' as govt leaders and their lobbyist handlers...

Well...that's probably enough for now...:time:

Reel,

I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortuantely people do not spend the time to understand what each candidate is about they vote based upon old party ideals that do not mean anything anymore. Poltician change their viewpoint at the drop of a hat to suit the environment, there is no conviction. RP is a libertarian which is where I stand (less government more privatization) but unfortuantely i believe voting for him may allow Clinton to move in. A health care system run by the government would be the worst thing that ever happened to this country. The crooks would eat it up and no one would be satisfied.

Bill Clinton dies and goes to Heaven (yes Heaven)

Saint Peter meets him at the gate and tells him he has a choice of either Heaven or Hell

Bill asks if he can see what both are like before he makes his decision.
Peter says why sure which one would you like to visit first?

Bill chooses Hell!

Down the elevator they go, when the door opens the scene is much like Agusta National. All his congressional buddys are there smiling with drinks in their hands. He even meets the devil who asks him if he'd like to play 9 holes. Bill looks at Peter who nods his approval. At the ninth green Peter meets Bills and says its time to visit heaven.

Up they go when the door opens they are in the sky. People sitting on clouds, a harpist is playing. Peter asks where would you like to spend eternity. Bills chooses Hell.

Down he goes this time when the door opens he is greeted by the devil in a firery hole all his friends are there in pain and agony. Bill says this isn't where I visited before!

His friends and Satan answer all together Oh that! We were just campaigning!!

If you live in Mississippi, as I do, you may as well stay home. Most of the candidates have already dropped out and the primary here isn't for several weeks yet. Why is this? Because Mississippi is one of the few states that didn't move their primary back into February or, in some cases, January. This whole election was co-opted from the start whenever they started jacking the primary dates all around. Hell, that started last summer!

If the primary were tomorrow, which it isn't, I would have only John McCain to vote for on the Republican side and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to choose from for the Democrats, with an oddball write-in or two thrown in for those few who actually do their homework and want to vote for someone they truly believe is better. And, to make things worse, the primary is the ONLY opportunity any of us get to directly vote for a Presidential candidate.

As you may remember from past elections, from here it goes to the conventions and then there will be two absolute candidates that will get all of the Media attention, while the likes of Ron Paul are left to depend on the kindness of strangers and good word of mouth to mount a campaign against the big two. No third party candidate has successfully done so in recent history. The third party candidate is, at best, reduced to the role of spoiler (see Ross Perot) where he will drag down one or another of the candidates but never get enough votes to win in his own right.

Anyway, ultimately the electoral college decides it with their votes, not the votes of the American people (see Bush v Gore, 2000 which, in that case was actually decided by the Supreme Court, but hey, who's counting?).

Ok... I'm weighing in here. My bumper sticker is going to say "Anyone but Hillary". Sure... I don't like her politics but mostly it's because I can't stand the thought of looking at her and Bill for another 4-8 years. I think as a consolation prize we could all chip in and get her an "Extreme Makeover" like those ones on TV.

My bet is the LAST person who wants Hillary to be President is Bill. Seriously, do you think he wants the Secret Service keeping tabs on him 24/7 for 4 years and reporting to his wife?

If you really think that is true, we should probably pay very close attention to who he chooses as a running mate. We have already learned what can happen when we disregard it, as happened with the current lot.
