I was looking at the 1974 catalog and noticed that an inboard center console model was produced that year . I was wondering if anyone out there has one or has seen one . That would be great with a small diesel . You could run all day on 30-40 gal . I have seen I/O's but not straight inboards . http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/Cat_1974/scan0023_Medium

I'd love to see one of those. Looks like a nice ride.

at first I thought it was not mounted amidships enough to give the true ride benefits from an inboard but then I realized that they have to have moved the fuel tank forward in the hull to do it.

looks awful heavy around back, and I had no idea they made one of these either. i bet they quit making it cause it was too heavy in the stern:oh:

My thoughts, exactly. Even with the tank in front of the center console, it looks like it might be a little heavy in the back, especially with a couple burly fishermen sitting behind the console. Move that console to more amidship and I bet it would be sweet.

Sorry to disagree, but......................... It can't be any more tail heavy than an I/O boat!!!

It looks like if theyed moved the engine an console forward about 2 feet it would plane out better. Maybe trim tabs were an option, they would have helped. Ive never seen one but Id like too!Sharp looking boat though!

I like the way the prop is protected . It must not have sold to well as it was only offered that on year . It still is a cool rig .

definately not aft heavy. same engine as an I/O less the outdrive plus 2-3 feet forward. im willing to say better weight towards the front than a outboard. everyone seems real concerned about being aft heavy...lol

Looks like PennYan tunnel drive! Father in law had a 23' Penn Yan w/ tunnel drive not the best for control. Billy Mac

you are right Mac they were harder to manuever in some conditions, also not the most efficient set up. But try to get them guys out of them old Penn Yans, my Lord they love em, and they have held up well compared to many others as they age.

Someone posted one that was a 23 or 25 footer a while back. I think it would be a sweet set up.
