Hey all,

I have a sticky transmission cable and was wondering if anyone knows off hand what length replacement I should buy. I have an '83 cuddy and I hate to take it out just to measure before I buy since it actually works it's just slow reacting at times. How difficult is it to lube the cable? They look like Morse cables and are going to a Johnson motor.

Thanks,
K

Irish - If they're morse cables there will be a number stamped on the side. This number will tell you how long the cables are . . . the last two digits equals the length in feet.

check out page 5.

You have to measure from the box to the corner and then to center of motor, then add 2 feet for a loop so the cable move freely. Round off to the nearest foot and there you go! ;D

I'm measuring about 15+ feet from controls to motor with 2' added in. Does 16' sound right?

Thanks

That was my thought when you were telling me before But thought you should measure first!!
But if you got 15+ then you should be going 17'

When I replaced mine I went with 18's. I had a nice loop. 17 or 18 you'll be fine. 16 will be too short.

I agree. 15 + 2 = 17. Definitely. :D
