Windshield Supports

My 76 o/b is missing one of the windsheild supports. I saw a replacement part for this at my local marine dealer, but it didn't look long enough. I guess I could replace both so that they'd be the same, but has anybody got a spare or know where I could get the right one?

MJ, I'd also like to know what you guys are talking about when you refer to the sliding cuddy door. Do you have a picture? I just assumed the mid 70's models didn't have any type of door - maybe mine's missing? What about the top part just under the windshield - no door will cover that??? Did you make your door or what?

Also, I've heard you guys talk about the "pesky center mounted drain" on the back of the o/b hulls - what the heck am I gonna do when I go to a single setup??? I know somebody's dealt with this before.

Another question and then I'm done (until next week) - I would really like to know where SeaKindly got that sweet bimini with enclosure and how much it set him back. Whew - I've hijacked my own post.

Ok, found the answer on a previous post about the splashwell drain. Sounds like a bummer to me - I guess they was countin on that hull to always have twins hangin on it. Go figure.

My other questions still stand though :P

BR...I think they're refering to the hatch cover that slides forward and back horizontally...that windshield support shouldn't be too hard to find, but I don't have an extra, but if you can't find one, then I'm like you; replace both with matching supports...look at gallery pics to see hatch door...
My '74 has center splashwell drain...didn't drain with '86 Evinrude...does drain with new Honda, so depends on which motor you got...I was gonna put a shim between motor and transom to allow space for drainage...it would have to be upside-down U shape 1/4" thick to work, should be stainless or aluminum and match mounting pattern of motor mount...I don't think Wellcraft was counting on twins, but on motors of the day and future having clearance ::)
My Bimini was custom made...full enclosure like Seakindly's...$1800 :o...thought that was high, but think it's about going rate for custom job...what say, guys?...

The sliding hatch is the one thats slides back and forth under the windshield.

The windsheild support can be had by the manufactor of the windsheild. If you look in the corner of one of your windows and you will see the name. *Mine is Water Bonnet and they are still in bussiness. I looked them up once but forgot now??

Drain holes have been talked about pleanty here and you can find using the search at top of page.

Blue, my bimini/enclosure was original factory option. I don't know what it cost the boat's original owner, but I'd bet it was expensive. Fortunately, I was able to pay for it with my good looks alone. ;)
