I know that somebody is going to be able to help me with this. There is this "T" connection in the tell tell line coming out of the port side cylinder if standing behind the boat. It looks like the line coming off the south facing part of the "T" had a hose coming from it that was cut before I got the motor. I can't find anywhere that this hose might have gone. It has a slow drip coming out of it while the motor is running. Your wisdom is apreciated! I've wondered if this might have to do with a water temp guage, but that's just a WAG. What should I do with it?
Thanks,
Blue

Realizing that saying 140hp might have made some of you think this was an inboard, well, its a 140hp 4 cylinder outboard.

Sorry for not being clearer.

Well yeah...I think you should be beaten with Dolly Parton's bra for not bein' more specific... :o

BR, I had an older 140 and I don't remember that T...I'm sure it wasn't there...dunno what it is...

I think I'll just plug it off and run the dog %$#^@ out of it like it is! 8)

Hey Blue,

I just went downstairs and checked out my 85' 140 h.p. Evinrude. The fitting comes out of the portside-top cyl. head and goes directly to the overboard discharge/"the pisser". Let me know if I can look at anything else for you.

BR...I dunno 'bout dat...if it's a line that's supposed to breath and you plug it up you could suffer from outboardus constipatius... :o...

Shouldn't be too hard to find out what that is...have you been runnin' it as is?...

Thanks alot Shicks. Of course I always get an oddball in everything I buy. RAP I feel what your sayin about "it breathing" but I know that thing isn't supposed to drip all closed up in the cowl like that. Also that hose that's on that "T" has obviously been cut and once led to something that probably stayed on the boat the motor came off of. I'm still looking around on the web trying to find out. I'm about 95% sure it wouldn't hurt to plug it off or remove the "T" and run a solid hose to the pp hole. Thanks guys for tryin to figure this one out with me. It ain't over yet ;)

Just a thought, could it have been a feed to a pressure gauge.

There's a thought...or maybe a temp gauge...the mystery continues... ???

This is a mysterious hose update:

It was an easy fix. Just removed the "T" and had enough slack in the remaining tubing to bridge the gap and hook in where the "T" once hooked. Put a heavy duty zip tie on it real tight and I was done.

The only other thing I could do to this motor besides a rebuild would be replace the starter and solenoid just as a precaution. I might just do that if I ever get off my tail and sell this other motor! Not to mention my other 2 boats!
