This is a true "Doormat" fluke if I ever saw one. This fluke was caught on Cape Cod and weighed almost 14 pounds. :o What a monster!

Sean I can't go Sunday because one of my trailer bunks shifted and dropped down so the boat now sits cockeyed on the trailer ::) The brackets and U-bolts are rusted and pretty much history, so tomorrow me and my buddy are planning some trailer rework. I got all brand new bunk brackets & hardware and hopefully this wont be too much of a pain in the buttocks.
BTW that fluke is freakin huge too! Both of those fluke look like the size of halibut. Maybe one of these days either you, Kevin, or myself will be so blessed to catch a monster like that. :-/
Kevin, where so you buy the Spro jigs?

DOORMAT FLUKE.
reserved for any and all fluke 10 pounds and over.
7, 8 and 9 pounders are all big but cannot be considered a true doormat.
that 24 pounder. . . . . phukking super doormat.

Well, they sell them at the shop at my marina but they also carry them at Walmart around here.....I know Capt Don's in Charlestown, RI has them also up to 6 oz. Depending on how you get to Pt Judith that could be on your way. My buddy works there and gave me a 6 oz jig ($7) that I promptly lost after using it about 10 minutes. I usually use 4 oz with a teaser tied about a foot up and 2-3 feet back.

Them fish are great!! But the 14 looks biggher then the 24!!
My biggest was 13# and 36" long.
But because some jerks at DMF there is no more Fluking here in Ma. as of last Wed.
Can't wait for the hearings this winter!! What As-hol-o closes fishing in Aug??

MJ, That's so ridiculous that they did that in Mass. I wish they would set limits/regulations all the same for all states. Why is it, we up here in New England have a 19" minimum length for fluke and further south the limits are smaller? To me it should all be the same for the east coast all the way from Maine down to Florida >:(
Whale, Thanks for the info and I will stop next time when I am in the area down there. Charlestown isn't that far off my route.
That fluke from the Cape was caught on Hairball charters. Captain Eric "Hairball" Stapelfeld runs it out of Falmouth, MA The rig it was caught on was one of his own fluke rigs. My buddies fish on his boat and they always tell me they get fish everytime they go out with him. I also agree that it does look much bigger then the other one for some reason.

Kevin.
My buddy called Eric (Hairball) and he was told that the *lime green skirted rig in the picture is what the fluke was caught with. If you look at the picture you will see two rods against the center console rigged with the "hairball rig" including the rig that's in the flukes mouth. He also said that the very same rig is what he uses for stripers. It has a weighted 5 oz. lead *jighead. My buddy also inquired if he sells them and he said,"not as of yet". *:-/ If you could find plastic skirting material and some leadheads you could make some up and try it out.

I thought Hairball sold his rigs at Eastman's Sport & Tackle in Falmouth. Or are they only his Striper jigs? Sometimes he has adds in On The Water magazine.
When was the photo taken? My boat is normally docked right behind where the pic was taken.

The picture was taken last month from what I was told. I know if you go to:
http://www.onthewater.com/fishingforecast.htm
Click on photo gallery for 2007 and the pic is there. I will have to ask my buddy if Eric sells his fluke rigs at Eastman's or is it just his striper rigs he sells there.
