Well, After many months of hard work Iv'e finally got some paint on the old girl. My next step is to come back and mask off the slick areas(around the deck hatches and perimeter) and paint the non-skid. The cockpit deck you see is still just primed.

Great job - Shicks. What is the paint and how did you put it on? What are you using for the cockpit floor?

Thanks guys,

The paint is Devoe. I'm using 201 epoxy primer and 379 2 part urethane enamel for the top coat. For the deck I will be using the top coat paint with Interdeck additive. The paint is working out great. We use the same stuff at work and it realy holds up, very affordable too! Oh yeah...I sprayed it.

Shicks, MJ's RIGHT...MY '74 didn't leak gas out the vents...it got water in the tanks in turns in ruff water...real pain...now's a good time to solve the problem on your hull...

Lot's of hard work there, shicks...LOOKS GREAT!!! ;D 8)...

That needs to be done on my '72. I'm afraid that'll be a recommendation for the new owner :)

Yeah, I'll probably consider that when I paint my hull. Iv'e still got alot to do before I can put her back in the water, I don't want to add to the list of things to do. Maybe by Labor day. At least in time for some speckled trout and striped bass.

I would do it now before you start the painting while you have good excess to them.

You don't want gas running down the new paint now :o

Good Luck with the rest!! I am sure it will be great when you are done!

I got the first coat on non-skid on the deck last night, turned out pretty nice. I'm going on vacation again down to the Outer Banks of N.C tomarrow for a week. I will do some inshore fishing (surf and wade). I won't be able to get back to work on the boat until next week. I will be sure to post some pics as I progress.

OBX, man I love that place. You heard about the beach closures going on haven't you? 3 Piping Plover chicks hatched out near Cape Point so the National Park Service decided to close off most of the 70+ miles of beach in order for the chicks to be able to "forage" safely without being ran over. Its a friggin joke man! The NPS set up baracades and came out in full force armed with tasers and such when they closed the beaches. Go to www.reddrumtackle.com to find out exactly which parts of the beach are still open. A little over 13 miles so I hear are still open, although that is broken into little sections consisting of less than a mile to 2 miles. EVERYBODY on the banks and fishermen all over the east coast are P. O.'d about it!!!

Sorry if you've already heard about this! Its better to over communicate than under communicate!
