I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching......J/K ;D
I have a buddy who was restoring an old center console and he is having to move to Atlanta due to his job. I hate to see him go, but his move is my gain!! He gave me all of the stuff he had bought and saved up for his restoration. I have about three watertight hatches, a box FULL of new stainless bolts and screws, other misc. items, and best of all....a BRAND NEW 45gallon plastic fuel tank!! I was wanting to upgrade to maybe a 60 gallon plastic, but for free...dern!!! CANT BEAT THAT!
I also got a the paint he was going to do his in. It is mint green. I was thinking a while back about either the mint green or blue ice before I finally decided on the blue. After he ordered this green and I seen it I was honestly thinking of doing mine in it as well. Now that I got it for free, I just may do it. Tell me what yall think of the color. My wife loves it and I do as well....Im not completely sure yet as I am not going to let one gallon of free paint make the decision for me.
PS I think both tanks will fit back in her for a whopping 91 gallons!!! What about that?? I know it will change the center of gravity, but I figure the full transom and brackett will offset that...plus you dont have to fill the front one up all the way anyways...right? 8)

So how bout the color, and 90 gallons of fuel? ::)
not_her_idea
07-05-2005, 06:04 PM
color is good. its only up to you on if you like it and can live with the color.
Go for it.
90 gals of fuel is alot, but there if you need the extra gallons for the off shore run or wherever you may be. And if you have the room for the 90 gal. tank, use it up.

Stinky, I'm probably not the one to ask about color cause I'm an old-phart-fuddy-duddy and won't put any color on my boat other than the original Wellcraft factory color....I think the green is gonna look good, and if it works for you, then do it... ;) ;D...
The second tank...not clear where it's goin...are you sure it's gonna fit where you're talkin' about?... :)...but basicly if you can safely add more fuel capacity to a boat, I'd DO IT!! ;D...when you get it installed, fill 'em to the brim and see how she floats...adjust down from there if you need to...
Keep us posted on the progress!!... ;D...
I dont know about the green. My wife picked out the yellow so I toned it down she never knew the difference. :-XSee if the paint store can lighten it for you. The hull pics looked sweet by the way.

There's a boat about that color down at Toller's Cove in Charleston...really looks great... 8)...if you're goin' w/ any other color than stock Wellcraft White, I wouldn't run from the Mint Green... ;D...

On another note, my baby is still in the yard on the ground because I havent gotten the rollers yet to put it back on. Now we have this crap to deal with
http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com/pictureprocessor/images/NHC7-7.jpg
I dont know what to do!! I cant afford the rollers right now and I am scared the storm might blow the hull around and damage it. I was thinking of anchoring it to the ground via the bow and trasom u bolts, but I dont know what to put in the ground to secure a v20 in 130 MPH winds. >:(
It is predicted to be a strong cat3 by the time it gets here. :o
What to do here...Im freakin out...Ive got alot of time and $$ in this thang.

07-07-2005, 03:16 PM
Hey Stinky...for anchors how about those tie-offs you SCREW into the ground to tie-off a dog...they also make one for horses...AND a heavy-duty version to tie down mobile homes...elevate the bow and leave the plug out!... ;) :D...
Oh yeah...thanks for the storm track...glad to see it ain't headed this way...we're gettin' HEAVY RAIN from Cindy right now...think it'll be nuff for a while... ::)...

STINKY, REMOVE THE BATTERIES, PUT THE TRANSOME PLUG IN, BLOCK THE SCUPPERS - FILL IT WITH WATER FOR WEIGHT. ALL THE NEW BOAT DEALERS HERE ON THE TREASURE COAST DID IT LAST YEAR WHE THE BIG STORMS CAME THRU!!!!

Franco, interesting idea - put plug in and fill with water. I didn't think there'd be any reason to do such a thing, but I've been proved wrong.
I second RAP's screw-in anchor-to-the-ground idea too.
But, here's another thought for you - I'd be more worried about the house than the V20 - 130mph YIKES :o
Hope it all blows over with no damages.

07-07-2005, 03:58 PM
Wow I think I will do both!!!! Thanks gys.....
Oh and Blue, I got insurance on the HOUSE! ;D

Yeah...if you're gonna fill'er w/ water, you can forget about the elevating the bow thing... ::)...my luck, I'd do all the above and a freakin' TREE would fall on it... :o...

I GOT THE IDEA TO FILL THE BOAT WITH WATER FROM A LOCAL BOAT DEALER, HE SELLS PATHFINDER, MAVERICK, AND HEWES FLATS BOATS. HE HAS 20 OR SO ON HIS LOT BEFORE THE HURRICANES HIT HERE, OTHER THAN A FEW SCRATCHES FROM FLYIND DEBRIS TEH WERE ALL IN GOOD SHAPE. hECK, IF IT RAINS ENOUGH, AND WITH ENOUGH DEBRIS THEY COULD FILL WITH WATER ANYWAY!!! GOOD LUCK

I would not want to buy a boat that I knew was completely submerged. That can't be good for the electrical. Does that ruin a motor as well?
Franco
07-08-2005, 06:41 PM
IT WASN'T SUBMERGED, ON DRY LAND AND JUST FILLED ENOUGH TO KEEP IT FROM BEING BLOWN AROUND. FRESH WATER IS A LOT DIFFERENT FROM SALT WATER AS FAR AS THE ELECTRIAL IS CONCERNED.

If it where me, I'd put some food and bottled water in the cuddy, fill the cooler with ice and beer, grab a portable radio (for tunes), put up the enclosure, and be ready for any flooding!!! Oh yeah, grab two of every animal you can find!!! ;D I never claimed to be sain :P
Seriously though, sounds like your in for a wild ride. I've read some good advice and I think if it were me, I'd probable try to figure out the best way to anchor the boat to the ground, just my preference. Whatever you do I wish you the best of luck and I hope everything works out for you.

Hey stinky, if you have access to some sandbags that might be better than filling with water. Any thing to make it too heavy to be tossed around. If You cant find sand bags, I'll give you my ex-motherinlaws phone number.

Man me too! I filled her up with water, but I really felt like it woulnd be futile against that kinda storm.
No we did not evac...I dont want to have to spend two days just getting back to my home in case it gets bad with downed trees and poles and such. Plus, we stayed at my dads place, which HE built and I KNOW it aint goin nowhere! ;D

Stinky glad you made it though OK. This answers my post in general section "Stinky you still there?" Bill Mc ;D
Your right about gettin back in. During opal some people waited days to get back and your stranded on the road then. It would be cool to ride one out in that battleship though.

Battleship is probably one of the safest places.
It is basically sitting on the bottom now anyways. ;D
Yeah 20' in the mud they said. Boy the pics of the bottom or your boat look good. That thing is gonna glide through the water.
I saw your post about post storm fishin, I need to get out this weekend and try to catch some grouper and snapper, before they get away. Hope the weather is good. Bottom fishin in this 3-5 stuff gets old quick.

Stinky did you ever get diagnose and/or fix that motor problem you were having with your 18?
Stinky_Hooker
07-16-2005, 09:52 PM
Going to try and do it this weekend. I havent has time with the new baby and the hurricane and such. I am pretty sure it is the stator as I have eliminated alot of other possibilities. Just have more to go...I will check the coils and stator voltages next.
