I have a 1984 V20 Cuddy. The thru the deck fitting to the starboard side scupper has split. As a result the top of the fitting has broken off and the bottom part is being held in place by the hose.
Has anyone replaced one of these fittings?
How did you get access to the clamp holding the hose on to the fitting ( a long extension on a socket drive?).
How did you tighten the nut under the deck when you put a new fitting in?

I changed mine last year and it is not too bad. I pulled the rod boxes to get to them. I couldn't find replacement fittings out of plastic, I had to use brass drains out of a bar sink. The hard part is the short piece of hose going to the thru hull. If I had to do it again, I think I would put in an inspection plate in the gunnell to gain access.

Thanks for the input. I had not thought about pulling the rod boxes out. After attempting to reach it through the hatch to the battery and by pulling out the boxes
near the transom I had pretty much started to thing about putting in an access hatch.
I will take your advice and try that way.
Once again thanks for the advice.
have a great summer!

For future reference, I found the replacement at

Some owners have replaced with Stainless steel drains. My experience with these are that they tend to stay scummy and get barnacles if you keep your boat in the water. My plastic ones lasted 18 yrs, so I'll just stick with them at $10 per.
Also, glad to see a sight devoted to the V20. I've had mine for 3 yrs. now and haven't had one problem. ANyone around here live in the Savannah, Ga. area?

reelapeelin, Man that sounds like a plan. I am currently slotted to be in Mississippi for the first part of Dec. but it sure sounds good. If it changes, I'll let you know and slide down to Sebastian with ya'll. Is everyone staying at the same hotel? If so, what are the particulars.
Thanks
