Stink, so glad you decided to do the transom the right way. You should also consider adding some knee braces from the new transom to the stringers to make it even more solid...I'll try and find some pics of what I'm talking about.

Here's a few:

Stinky. another thing I would do if I was you. Instead of doing your livewells the way your talking about, since you have to build a transom cap, can't you make it wide enough to fit the livewells in it so they are parallel with transom??? One of the major benefits to me with a closed transom and bracket is all the extra cockpit space you gain.

Tinman, on the knee braces THANKS! I will definitely do that. The old ones are kinda pitiful.

The parallel thing....I could, but I was tring to prevent cutting the angled from section and keep all the original flooring ya know?

No I am thinking though, that extra room would be nice. ???

WHERE ARE THE Sunday - STINKY - SMOKER - SCENES???

It's freezin up here today an we all need to see you prancing around in your tee shirt !

... that troubler-maker, wise-guy, smart - a$$ ..c-bill

P.S. how is the transom - hope it is going well -
words of advice ... dry-fit .. dry-fit... and dry-fit some more the wood before you goop the glue....

I didnt get to fool with it this weekend Bill. It rained all day sat. I have a club fishin tourney next weekend so I worked today on getting tackle and such ready for that. I hope to piddle with it this week some.

Yes DRYFIT will take place many times before the gluing does. I am going to try to incorporate a "shim" for the bracket into it while Im doing it. My bracket is straight and as yall know the V20 has a curved transom. This will all take a little time, but I think it will be worth it in the end. 8)

Shim will be nice!! I think mine was about 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 ?? I ended up cutting a 4X4 wedge for each side. worked out well so far. you can see it in the gallery pic's, but not well, this was before I really started taking pic, when I did things.

Well guys I got the first piece of plywood cut to fit the inside of the transom Saturday...sorry no video. Ill post a few pics when I get home. I looks like I am going to have to cut the pieces to get them in. They wont fit whole. I have decided to cut them kinda like a 60/40.....sorta like a *pickup truck seat is done. I will cut each board on the opposite side as the previous so they lap together more solid. Ill post a few pics later to show yall.

Stink Man can you mill down an overlap and epoxy it once you slide them together. Before you cut the final product add 4 inches to your width measurement and use a table saw to rduce corresponding ends by half your board thickness for an overlap.?

I read that 10 times before I got it. EXCELLENT IDEA! I may do that! I can use my first attempt as a pattern since it is too short now. 8)

We need a Video section in our gallery I do believe!

P.S. What editing software did you use with the video?

Stinky, I like the 60/ 40 idea if the sixty part passes the outboard bolt holes. Even on my bracket there are a bunch of bolts around where the motor is or would be on the transom. Then half lap that joint 60/40 like Willy said. Unless yall are talking horizontal instead of verticle. In that case you lost me.

Stinky, I also enjoyed the video, you goofy S.O.B.

Except the part about the big guns. Would rather see the wifes big 'uns. LOL

Also, your hair was a little longer than regulation, you need to go see Floyd. Or is that a prison cut?

Great work on the boat, you are ambitious, that hull will give you a lot of satisfaction when you are finished.

Keep up the good work!

OK guys here is a little update. I havent gotten alot done because I have been painting my house...yay!! ::)

No video cause my wife ( I blame her anyways) lost the charger for my mini DV...I think she is hiding it cause my solo videos to random guys on the net scare her. ::) I ordered one off Flea-Bay and itll be here in a bit. 8)

I have gotten the first layer split 60/40 as "someone" reccomended glued on. I have also planed down a "splice" to go between them. I am pulling it to the rear transom shell with screws through the rear. I used 1/4" plywood on this first layer because I tried 1/2" and it was pulling the the shell in...deforming the transom line of the boat. I will go thicker the farher I get as Ill be able to as it stiffins with addtional layers. I have also cut the old stringers off forward of the rot and Ill be building some knee braces for those as well.

I have a few pics, but they are at home...Ill post em later.
