I broke off the covers and started installing my new GPS today. I covered up the hole that the previous Garmin fit into as a flush mount with a piece of starboard. I want to install the unit on the gimbal mount so it will be easier for my eyes to see and I can adjust the angle depending on the light/seating conditions.
When you come thru the dash with the two cables antenna and power what do you do to seal it so sea water can't get into it either by splash or running down the wires. They don't give you any kind of grommet or anything
Any ideas

and thats why mine are not sealed. But thats the glory of a cuddy, not to much getting in there cause of the windsheild angle.

You can put a small SS shell over it, that will make it look better but still not water proof.

Thats what I was afraid of, only thing I was able to come up with was a clam shell. For the money they charge for these things you'd think they would put some kind of grommet set up for them in the kit :-/

well if you are sure all works and that you own it, in other words not going to take it back, Then you could 5200 all around the wires and get it all sealed up, Then put the clam shell over it when dry to cover the mess??

Use a clam shell and seal inside it with a good silicone caulk. I would only use 5200 for a permanant fix or below the waterline. Just my $.02

Yea I use Life Seal for anything that has to flex or poss be removed later, 5200 for permanent only
