I have been lurking around this forum for over a year and finally got around to my first post and I must confess, I feel real guilty how I am treating this lady, a '76 V. My boys and I love her but I know I am not doing right by her. She is a real lady and serves us well but needs some extra attention to go to the big dance.
Some details:
1976 V bought in 1994
2000 Johnson 150
1996 Cox Magic Trail
As you can see the panels on both sides need a "little" work. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
How about checking the overall condition of the boat. For example, there is a soft spot in the floor just behind the cuddy in the bottom of the well. If the stringers are damaged, how do I check?
As you can see, I have not even taken her out this spring. If I do not show her some attention, she will get real hard to get along with.

Doug do a search engine for consoles on this site, many variations on how to do it, shapes and lay outs vary year to year. A popular component panel replaacement is starboard or one of its clones, much tougher and easier to maintain than factory stuff. By the way nice ride ;)

I first thought ya'll were a little crazy, the port side needs replacing also. Now that I understand that starboard is a material and not necessarily a side of a boat, anyone already researched internet vendors and been satisfied? Saw some on ebay.
I found a local distributor for King Starboard, Piedmont Plastics, I will give them a call Monday.

A nice Spanish the other lady caught last summer. I was able to get both of them in the picture.

Thanks so much. I have gotten a lot of good ideas. I like the starboard replacement saddle tank covers also.
I will get a few pictures after I get started.
Another question,
Where do you find the cover for the anchor rope that feed into the cuddy. The top of mine is missing.
Thanks again.

Doug, welcome to the board!!...I'm a big proponent of Starboard, too and it'll sure work well in the areas you're talkin' about...but I took a different route w/ 3/4" treated plywood, then upholstered w/ white vinyl...made mine "L"-shaped to turn into the cuddy about 12"...did this in '99 and it's held up well and caused no problems...
I did remake all hatch-lids outta Starboard, including the anchor hatch...the stuff is GREAT to work with and "0" maintenance...

I noticed your fuel tank vents are below the rub-rail...if you've ever had water intrusion probs, that's most likely the culprit...several of us have relocated those fittings above the rub-rail... ;)
Good to have ya on the board...glad to see ya don't mind postin' pics...we like pics around here ;)...
Oh yeah, if the ''soft spot'' is in the bottom of the well...a little flex there is probably nothing to worry about as I don't believe there's any support under the bottoms of those wells to begin with... ;)...

Yea them vents suck, you lose more gas on the road and thats getting to be like $5 a trip now!!
Mine are now relocated above the rub rail and leak no more! ;D
Here is a link to Seaboard, same as Starboard and is what I used, was like 1/3 cheaper the Starboard, and I bought it in 96 X 54 sheets and cut as I needed.
I don't know there shipping info, but you can also see if there is a dealer in your area?? Ask them when you call for info, might be worth it.
Comes in more colors and a non slip texture also!!

Only problem, I didn't catch it. The Mrs. got it and it qualified for a citation from DNR in NC. Ate good too!
Have not tackled the consoile panels yet. Started the engine and it smoked like h----. Something else to look into.
I have noticed gas streaks down the side after I tow it for a good way.

June 11-17. We like to bottom fish for the Cobia, drag clark spoons for the Spanish and tie up to the Morehead-Atlantic Beach bridge and fish from the pilings for Sheeps Head. Usually do OK.
I am just down the road in Chapin, SC, about an hour from Spartanburg here at Lake Murray but seldom go striper fishing. Ever come down this way?

Well truthfully we will be there 2 weeks, 6/11-23. I have the luxury of being able to work remotely so I will be working and playing. Trying to concentrate on the playing.
